- It's not anything like what Troper Tales is for. What's with this mania that's developed for moving things to some other section that's completely unrelated?
- What, exactly, is broken about it?
- How will moving it to another namespace fix that?

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.We may need to shove the whole thing to Just for Fun. If the idea is "this would be a good name for a trope", why aren't the originators making YKTTW's based on said name?
mudshark: I don't expect Nate to make sense, really. The point is having a clever name doesn't mean that you should try to make a trope to fit it. The Just for Fun namespace would be a good it for it.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Part of the reason this came up was because Title Bin is completely weighed down with natter and in-jokes, which makes it very hard to use as an actual resource. A YKTTW came up to remedy this that was basically Title Bin: Serious Business.
So beyond moving Title Bin to a namespace where natter and in-jokes are ok, is there anything we can do to make Title Bin a more useful page?
It may have been intended to be useful way back when, but it turned into a game at least three years ago — that's how long I've been hanging around, and it's been full of stupid titles as long as I can recall.
Ununnilium: Indeed. I'm actually the one who added "Silly Pun, Often On Another Trope Name", and I'm enjoying this immensely. People will get tired of this soon enough - no need to rush it along.
That exchange show up on the discussion page as archived by the Wayback Machine on June 26th of 2007.
If it ever was a serious resource for possible titles, it stopped being one at least four years ago. see for yourself. That's the Wayback Machine's capture of the page as of July 12th of 2007. The earliest one they have. It's already filling up with silly puns and "all the variants we can come up with on this phrase" and other nonsense.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I don't think it's been policy that Just for Fun pages have to be moved to a certain namespace.
No, but putting them in the Just for Fun namespace makes it crystal clear that it's a fun page, not one that needs to be kept serious and on-mission.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.If you honestly, seriously think a particular string of words is a good title for a trope, it's either because it conveys some sort of specific idea (in which case, make a personal note of it and try to work out a YKTTW) or just happens to be euphonic or a cultural reference of some sort. Saying that something is A Good Name For A Trope is no more useful to anyone than saying it's A Good Name for a Rock Band or For A TV Show.
At any rate, people have wildly different ideas on how "serious" trope names should be, so how do you police the page? And putting a joke on something that's meant to be serious is subversive, and thus in some people's opinion intrinsically more funny, than putting in the Designated Joke Zone.
If I recall correctly, the Title Bin was supposed to be at least semi-serious (following the path of the old Quote Bin), but it decayed into injokes almost immediately.
Considering we have now started cracking down on Bad Snowclones, and snowclones are just about the only thing a Title Bin - that is, titles without tropes to give them meaning - could consist of, I wouldn't say no to cutting it or moving it to Darth Wiki.

Why would it belong under Darth Wiki? It is clearly Just for Fun, if anything that should be its namespace, not Darth.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I was thinking that its very existence, if anyone took it seriously, legitimized the overuse of snowclones. It was just a suggestion.

I'd like it as a Just for Fun, thank you.
TV Tropes Pantheon Group Members DatabaseDoes anyone actually even find it amusing? I dont. For all I care, it could be cut altogether.

The page has been cut. This thread can now be closed.
We need to repair the Title Bin as it has just become unusable for its original purpose. I have moved the Bin titles that have successfully become articles to Ascended Bin Titles (if anyone has a better name, feel free to suggest it). If people want to keep the current Bin, how about moving it to Troper Tales?
