So, the page for Braids of Barbarism is currently imageless. But, as this is a visual trope we can probably find an easy image! So I'll let you fire away your suggestion, but I have one for starters: Khal Drogo, from Game Of Thrones, the tv adaptation of the A Song Of Ice And Fire book series.

Khal Drogo

If you want, I can probably forage through the book and get the explanation of the symbolism of Drogo's braid for the page quote. Basically, men of Drogo's tribe only cut their hairs when defeated in battle - thus the longer the braid, the more badass the man.

That doesn't look like it's a true braid; more like a long ponytail that's been tied off in a couple of intermediate places.

But I agree that there has to be a good page image out there.

Obelix and his fellow Gauls maybe?

[up] That looks pretty perfect.

You're right, on second look Drogo's braid is a lot less braid-y than in the book. Damn.

Asterix was my first thought, but they don't really look "barbaric". They look heroic and kinda cute. Their appetite of violence is always played for laugh. So the characters fit, but their lighthearted tone might not. SO I'm not sying it won't work, but I don't think it's perfect We should look so more.

[up] Looks good, but the braids are a little understated for my taste.

Some possibilities:

Asterix Vikings or the first Barbarian.

Am I the only one who's a little uncertain about using pics where the braids are in facial hair, especially moustaches?

[up] Doesn't bother me at all, I can't recall a time when I've seen a character that had braided facial hair that wasn't a barbarian or some other sort of badass.
