Console beta just ended. We got a week to game launch, and 3 weeks to show launch.

So this is basically an MMO version of Halo? Is it PVP or PVE?

It's actually more like a modernized Rift.

And it's both PVP and PVE; there's different co-op maps, and larger army-on-army battles called "Shadow Wars".

According to Total Biscuit, it's a little undercooked at the moment. Though take his claims with a grain of salt, or rather, wait for the "real video" to come out:

IGN ain't too impressed.

At any rate, I'm not sure that this is worth $60.

So little hype, affiliated with Sy Fy, grumbling previews and a genre that necessitates plenty of players?

Uh oh.

Then again, for a game with such little hype, it's a wonder that it's in the top of the Steam sellers list at all.

Plus, the whole "show/game" combo is new enough that it'll attract players. Like being a pioneer. Wouldn't you have liked to be one of the very first few World Of Warcraft players?

The enemies in that video seemed to be acting the way they typically do in an MMO: wandering around aimlessly until you either enter their aggro radius or attack them directly. That makes sense for MM Os, but for a shooter where combat range is a big issue, it's just stupid. Doubly so for a game that's being released in a supposedly "Finished" state...

Sy Fy's tried it before with Red Faction. That... Didn't work out so well.

Hopefully that's just the tutorial level like TB said.

There's a big difference between one half-ass movie (which is every Sy Fy original movie ever) and a full-blown series.

Scored a free copy. Wife paid for one. Walking through the tutorial noobie area now, and I'm wishing that it had a first-person option, and that the controls made sense. Looking forward to working as a buddy team with my wife's character.

As a RIFT player, it doesn't feel anything like RIFT, at all. I'll have to model the controls after Fallout, since I'm used to that control layout.

Cynical Halibut Biscuit's done his first full feature on it.

So far this is really reminding me about the Lost Planet games; really awesome looking core concept held back by a heavy dose of questionable design decisions. Wish I could try it out.

Rented it for the PS 3...Its...pretty bad.

Maybe its just the console version but its laggy as all hell.

Every time I wanna use a menu like the map or inventory it took like 8 seconds for it to load.

Ouch.

Maybe the 360 is better for that. It's usually had the better load times.

This is also the first time I've ever heard of someone renting an MMO. O_o

I'll admit I'm intrigued by this game though. It looks like it has a lot of awesome welding going on.

Well watch the video above for the PC version, because apparently there's a lot less lag on both counts. Maybe it's just a console thing.

Then again, the guy running it on PC has dual SLI Geforce Titans, so maybe that's a moot point.
