Ah...this inspires me for a possible plot for the sequel: Since Wreck-it-Ralph has become retro and popular, they make some sort of sequel...now old Wreck-it-Ralph meets new, modern Wreck-it-Ralph. And he is all bothered that by it...while the new one is jealous, because his game is actually the less beloved one.

You know, I came so close to saying that, but I thought I shouldn't go there.

Now you've done it. The flood gates are open.

So does anyone have any ideas what a sequel might be about? I know a transcendence into home consoles is a given, as well as a cameo from Mario, but what about an emotional hook? Perhaps Mr. Litwak unexpectedly dies and the arcade is under new management.

Fleeing into the internet or something when the arcade inevitably closes, forcing our heroes to band together as they're flung into the violent and scary world of modern gaming?

A favorite theory is something a little less "Toy Story 3-esque," involving a console being added to Litwaks.

Another really interesting one I ran into on deviantart that I liked (even if it was a bit cliche) was the idea that a modern version of Fix-It Felix machine would be plugged in (featuring Felix's family, including Fix-It Felix Sr., as NPCs), but the new Felix would basically be like Gaston: self-absorbed, increasingly unstable when he doesn't get his way, and jealous of his 8-Bit counterpart for still being popular (and getting the girl) when he aims to replace him instead - with the original Felix being too enamored with the idea of having family to realize what's going on. There was also a plot about how the new Felix doesn't have his hammer (the player has to earn it in the game), which leads to this.

I like the idea of them meeting future generations of themselves too- like maybe a Tobikomi Party game or something.

My personal idea for a sequel was that maybe they end up getting connected to the internet, like maybe Litwak plugs his laptop into the power strip and suddenly a new tram opens up.

I guess my feeling with Wreck It Ralph is the same as it was for Up or The Incredibles in that the world has just so much untapped potential and the adventure has just begun.

.....:O Awwww I WANT to see a Disney movie with a 16-bit/CGI character model like that Ralph now! I saw the first teaser poster for the movie (the 16-bit Ralph head) and thought this could be the time where Disney is finally experimenting with more styles and really uses the 16-bit look for certain characters!
