Most likely, Waxing Name.

Control Sticks got re-designed to make 3D movement easier. Hence the introduction of Analog by Nintendo.

The D-Pad is perfect for 2D, and 3D is easiest with the Control Stick.

Not that 3D games are unplayable with a D-Pad, of course. They're just naturally harder.

@Waxing: It makes things more tolerable. Unfortunately, one of the problems with 3D Land is that some of the deaths will be caused by your lack of depth perception, especially in the more vertical levels. This can still happen with 3D on. Worse, the 3D is actually mandatory in some levels, not just for some optional areas. So if you want to play with the 3D off for some reason (i.e. to save battery life) the game will give you a hard time about it. Which is one of the reasons I do not like that game.

I never played the GBA version of that game. I kind of sucked at the original. I mean, I could beat it, it was somewhat easier than 3, but yeah.

Man, does everyone have inferior depth-perception too?

Not everyone has good depth perception. And not everyone is good at everything. Don't be so ignorant.

MM, seriously, knock it off already.

There is no reason to act like this. We get you like the D-Pad. All the power to ya there.

However, not all of us enjoy it for 3-D, (I don't enjoy it for certain 2-D games) and there's nothing wrong with our preference either. I respect yours, and we expect you to respect ours.

[up] I pegged it as a joke, but dragging it on and on and on becomes tiresome...

As for the 3D in 3D Land, you don't need the 3D, but it's quite advantageous to have it on.

Well, while MM's being kind of a dick (no offense, man), I've got to say that I never had any problems with the D-Pad while playing SM64DS either.

And I almost always play with 3D on, so...

[up]The camera, I've heard, is a lot more manageable in SM64DS. I guess that makes using the D-Pad more tolerable, too.

I don't know. The n64 version had a great camera too.

Then again, I gotta relay the DS version. I think they're about equal.

And with the size of the Control Nub(which is pretty small), I don't mind a run button at all. Won't work for Handheld Smash, though. XD

[up]I've played the original version of SM64, and the camera is indeed rather uncooperative. It gets really counterproductive in those parts where you have to walk across those narrow bridges, like that one in Wet-Dry World.

Oh, that's what you meant.

I meant the camera controls are similar.

Yeah, that's true. But this isn't unusual in any game. It's a matter of Fake Difficulty. And yeah, it's annoying. :|

[up]The camera is more manageable in the DS version because it has a center-the-camera button like in Sunshine. The original didn't have that feature at all.

Well, they both have a similar style, anyway.

I agree, though. For the most part, I find a full control stick easier to use than a nub. But a nub's better than nothing. grin

[up]If it were a 2D game, I would prefer a D-Pad. But NSMB2 is on the 3DS, which has the D-Pad in the position I don't like (that position where you have to rotate your thumb). Good thing NSMBU will likely use the Wii Remote on its side.

Wacky, you are skirting dangerously close to the "respect lost because you said a direct insult" line.

[up]Wiimotes and Pro Controllers are multiplayer only?

[up][up][up] The Gamepad will be used by a fifth/extra player for Boost Block placements I believe if you're playing multiplayer.

Also, another thing, are you using the "tongue" smiley because you're genuinely kidding around, or because you want to cover your ass and claim "I'm just joking" if someone calls out flaws in your statements?
