The only OCs I liked in Hyrule Warriors are Linkle and, to a much lesser degree, Wizzro. The others didn't do it for me at all. If they make a Mario Musou, I hope they minimize the number of OCs, or better yet, don't add any at all. Especially if it means giving us seldom-seen characters like Donkey Kong Jr., Wart, and Tatanga, or characters that seemed like they were going to be a big deal but weren't, like Nabbit and Plessie.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?But who's Lu Bu?
Well, Waluigi's pretty tall.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Foreman Spike.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Bowser's also tall enough, and his back and tail are pretty good halberd substitutes.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Mario Tennis Aces is looking amazing!
I wonder if Pauline will be playable.
...imagine her smacking enemies around with her handbag in Mushroom Kingdom Warriors.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Pauline could have 2 movesets, one using classic DK stuff + her singing and the other using mini-marios and other mini-figures.

Let's add some of the RPG characters too. Though Goombella and Goombario just bonk on heads, so they wouldn't make good movesets.
Maybe Paper Mario could be playable and incorporate his partners into his moves?
Paper Mario would be great in Smash. He's the only new Mario character I'd tolerate (I thought the series had all the representation it needed back in Brawl). In Mario Tennis Aces, not so much!
Quick Smash specials for Paper Mario:
- B: Bomb (feat. Bobbery)
- Side-B: Shell Toss (feat. Kooper)
- Up-B: Sky Lift (feat. Parakarry)
- Down-B: Veil (feat. Vivian)
- Final Smash: Either the Star/Peach Beam, Art Attack, Supernova, the papercraft robot from Paper Jam, or that thing from Color Splash where he drops Bowser's castle on the enemies.
Playing the Mario Tennis Aces Demo, having a lot of fun so far. Managed to win two tournaments.
Also, Rosalina's slice shots are ridiculous.
Dang, I am not good at tennis.
But the game is fun. Lots of strategy. The demo may actually be selling me on it. That last match I played was an intense affair that went to a tiebreaker and a loss.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectSince when was tennis this complicated? Game is fun, but really tough for me to grasp. Lots of love put into it, though I'm not sure this is for me. Making it like a fighting game certainly makes it interesting.
Tennis has always been fairly complicated. The Trick Shots and Zone Shots are just functions you could have done in past games (more or less) while Zone Time is legit new.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!It does have the peculiar cadence of a fighter. It's all energy management and timing your specials.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectHas anyone here gotten a K.O. win?
I have, twice in fact!
For the first racquet you break it with whichever strategy works best for you- either save for the Special Shot and try to shatter it ASAP, or spam Zone Shots and whittle away at it while scoring points.
For the second racquet, use Zone Shots to chip out the first two points of durability and leave them on death's door- either they constantly risk an instant loss from the KO by blocking, or they let you have any Zone Shots for free because they're worried about losing.
If you're feeling particularly spiteful you can abuse the way scoring works in tennis and stall the game out just to fish for a KO, but either way I think it's something you should always work towards during a match. Having alternate win conditions is always good, either you end the match earlier than usual or you render your opponent's lead in points absolutely moot.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaYeah, breaking the second one with Zone shots is the way to go since after you break the first racket, many don't bother blocking the next special shot unless they have to.
I have run into players that are good at blocking though.

@Cortez: I've been the recipient of one, I think. Or maybe it was just a broken racket.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI stumbled upon this video documentary about Mario Kart 64 speedrunning, specifically on Choco Mountain and its history of shortcuts. It's a really interesting watch.
Imagine being the person paid to fight Mario on the tennis court.
Also, you can challenge the umpire in Swing Mode.

Not Mario exactly, but it's related: I liked how Aces gives characters individual tennis outfits, and I wanted to do one for Lip.
pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSThat looks pretty cute! Maybe she'll be playable in the next Smash. She's exactly the kind of out-of-left-field retro character Sakurai loves.
I wonder when they'll announce the next 2D Mario game. After Mario Maker, I don't think they can rely on the New Super Mario Bros. branding/formula.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
You know, Mario would be easy to translate into the Warriors style as as far as the villians go. The games have characterized Bowser's army enough it wouldn't be odd to see not just Bowser and his closest minions (Kamek, Bowser Jr.) banter on a battlefield but others like the Koopalings or the Elite Trio. And Mario has a history of taking nameless enemies and making appealing enough characters out of them (see the Partners from the first two Paper Marios). I can easily see some OCs getting made for Bowser's faction if/whenever they don't just use established characters from each minion species.
