Therte writers who like to write fun stories that don't really make sense or take themselves seriously yet when you start actually feeling for the characters and the world, you find that people start discussing it in forums and often arguging what the writer's intent was. So what exactly is the intent here? If the work in qurstion doesn't take itself seriously then why all the fuss about it?

I don't think there's anything wrong with subjecting a less serious work to serious analysis; it's no less worthwhile.

Being aggressive about less-than-serious works and their supposed merit is a bit strange, though.

Also, sometimes it's interesting to subject a work without much depth to meta-analysis. What can something created with no thought at all tell us about the culture in which it was created?

My two thoughts on the subject:

1. Fans can be pretty stupid sometimes.

2. This does not belong on Writer's Block - it probably goes somewhere in the right-hand side of the forums.
