^ Given that the Librarian was using a Binary Rifle against her husband in the time right before the Halos' firing and using it to great effect against full Forerunner armor that might be more the normal and less the god-powers allegedly given in the books. After all game media is more canon than dead tree media game manuals notwithstanding.

I agree with Tom. In the books plasma is far more devastating, IIRC there's a scene in The Fall of Reach where a bolt from a Plasma Pistol quite literally boils away one of the Spartan's arms.

It's a bolt of plasma from a Hunter, plus it was before the MJOLNIR armor had shields. As seen at Chi Ceti the first iteration of the armor could hold up to at least several bolts of plasma.

And yet that is far more consistent with the games than alleged Forerunner God-weapons. The plasma bolt from a Hunter can kill you in one shot, I'd imagine a graze could probably take one or more limbs off.

Isn't like the canon mode Heroic or something?

I dunno, stuff is inconsistent

Oh really when?

Ally and player damage towards enemies is something on like Easy. Player health/shields is sorta composite Easy/Normal. Enemy aggressiveness and numbers are Heroic/Legendary. Enemy damage towards Red Shirts is Legendary. Enemy intelligence is Whuppopotamus.

In composite, somewhere around Normal/Heroic.

I've always imagined Legendary is canon. Chief's just that good.

But the Red Shirts canonically are not as bad as in Legendary. Especially the ODST's.

Whuppopotamus is a great word. Where did they get it from?

Forerunner vs Flood vs Ancient Humans would make a good game.

I still want to know what the Elites were like in the Forerunner era. I remember a video from early in Halo 4's development which depicted voice-recording for the Didact's awakening scene (with a completely different guy voicing him), where he converses with Jul and mentions the Sangheili present being "Second Form".

Obviously there were some plot changes but I wonder where they were going with that...

Well, everyone here probably already knows this, but the rest of Majestic is back for Escalation:

"The Fall of New Phoenix”—eight months ago, an attack on Earth left seven million dead, including the family of Spartan Gabriel Thorne. Today the city has been opened from quarantine, and Thorne is going home to see what’s left . . . and what it has to do with the Master Chief."

I just hope the comic doesn't spread itself too thin trying to cover all these plot points.

I get the feeling starting in Halo 5 we're gonna get a team-up with Thorne and John.

Apart from Thorne Majestic are non-entities, yeah.

If they take the deuterotagonist route again it has to be the Arbiter, if he doesn't get his own game. Thorne should have a separate game.

The trailer for Halo on Xbox One had Master Chief taking a journey alone, so I doubt he'd team up with Thorne thus.

Game: Campaign is planned to be 3-5 times longer than Halo 4. No more linear , going open world. Master Chief has gone rogue, has own ship and can visit different planets (6-8 planned). Each planet has several regions with main objectives and several side missions. ( Think of Wings of Liberty or Dawn of War 2 campaign) Core gameplay is still Halo (2 weapons, grenades, melee; "30 seconds of fun"; several different enemies) but there are RPG elements added to it: character progression (mostly items like forerunner relics you will find that make Master Chief stronger or will give him more abilities), not really loot, but you will have to acquire weapons first, before you can use them in more missions. Weapons are stored in the armory on the ship and chief can choose his loadout, which he will use on the mission start. He can still pickup and use the weapons he finds in the different missions. Loadout weapons are basically the same you have in Halo 4 Multiplayer (you cant start with a rocket launcher, but you can call in those "super weapons" on a mission like in Infinity Multiplayer; difference is this is a limited ability, at "low level" you can call one time, this can be upgraded over time) There will be more weapons in campaign than in Halo 4(and yes more "alien" weapons; not just human weapons with a different coat)
Sounds like Mass Effect.

Gross.

Aw but Mass Effect was awesome.

Still though, bit iffy on it. I say linear story but massive maps and tons of different ways to approach your mission.
