Holy crap, I don't remember these games being so damned hard. I spent about half an hour last night just getting my arse kicked repeatedly by Vic Viper. I remember that fight (and others) being tricky, but not this bad. He's gotten me the same way every time as well, when he starts using all his Options I end up getting hit by just one gauntlet projectile, which badly staggers me, and results in everything else he just fired hitting me, and there's not a damned thing you can do to about it.

I know what you mean. I have only ever beaten Aumann Anubis on my first try. Every time after that he kicks my ass, even after I found out how to heal in the middle of thr fight.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...I've just been through the ballache that is rescuing Ken when Ardjet's AI gets deleted. Enemies kept getting in the way when I tried to grab her with Wisp, and then inevitably when I throw them away, the lock switches to Ardjet.
I also almost lost patience clearing out the surface section of Lloyd's facility. There's a room where several Spiders and Mummyheads appear, and the Mummyheads kept on firing up their halberds, and of course it's unblockable, and in an enclosed space it's next to impossible to get away from it. Everything went fine once I switched to gauntlet and just spammed that weapon.
Not looking forward to the next bit, the descent through the facility, with the moving pillars.
After that it's all the best bits of the game though; the Armada battle, then Zakat, which I remember being a fun battle, and then the melee, and then Jehuty gets Zero Shift and things get really fun.
I'm really not looking forward to the battle with Anubis on the way to Aumaan though, with damaged Jehuty. That fight always took me a few tries each playthrough.
What makes the final battle with Aumann Anubis so difficult IMO is that Jehuty and Anubis are exactly evenly matched by that point in the game, and defeating Anubis requires the player to defeat an AI opponent with the exact same capabilities as them, combined with instantaneous reactions and input speed, and which is immune to the psychological effects that getting your ass handed to you in a videogame causes.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...AKA parry, dash away, then dash slash. And burst slash when he guards.
His ability to regenerate seems pretty annoying though. Odd addition, and a bit tedious too.
Considering you can heal yourself too in that fight, it just evens things out again.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...Someone mentioned that earlier, and it's the first I have heard of it. I assume you're not talking about Mummy, so what's the method?
Been away from the game for a few days, but I just beat Inhert, the Armada, Zakat, and finished the melee. It really was good to play the melee without the lag the PS 2 version suffered. They seem to have done something wrong with cutscenes though. Sometimes, when there's stuff going on behind the ADA HUD with characters talking, the scene behind flickers, and during the pre-battle conversation with Lloyd, the moving elements of the character's faces (eyes and mouth) had strange graphical glitches.
So good to have Zero Shift again, it's so much fun.

Can we switch between Japanese and English voices for this one?
Auman Anubis and the battle on the way to Auman I always thought were the most fun.
They were hard fights yes, but they were fair.

Anyway, I HATE that boss fight you have with Nephtis where you have to throw the Clods at it. Still haven't got past it and having the fight come almost right after that damn train mission does not help at all.

Haha, throwing Clods is only the first half of that fight. The second half is even more of a pain.
I'm not a fan of the fight on the way to Aumaan though. I don't think I've ever managed it on a first try. This is on Normal difficulty, by the way. When I first played this game, I still used to do things on Easy. Thinking on it, completing ZOE 2 on Easy on the day I got it is probably a big part of why I stoppped playing on Easy.
Trophy/Achievement (and congratulatory statement from Celvice) aside, is there any incentive for A Ranking the Rescue Missions? They're starting to infringe upon my sanity, especially since the second one is dependent on limiting the collateral damage caused by the first boss.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadFirst Metal Gear, and now THIS! Seriously, does Konami not want to put a language option? Because of that, I am never buying anything from Konami. ANYTHING!
..... Sorry?
I don't think dual audio would've really worked in the end because of the botched translation. I mean, I actually kind of like the voice actors but the script is really off sometimes.
I'm pretty sure A ranks unlock extras or something.
I don't usually bother with that kind of thing unless I'm bored out of my mind.

Good to know. Talk about an exercise in madness.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadHow was the translation bad?
"It is a command that rose from the basis of a program." It's a technically accurate translation in that it wasn't a conscious editing choice, but the grammar and phrasing is kind of weird a lot of the time.
I think the no Japanese language option actually came down from Kojima actually. I mean, Metal Gear is actually lipsynced to the English dialogue and he seems to love the West, so it wouldn't surprise me.
Not Three Laws compliant. It doesn't help that this was in the first cutscene: "Angie I remember it now. The winner of the year Hesperia Gales." "No idle talk. You'll crash, Dingo!" "In the final thirty seconds, Henry G trashed out from fieldout."
First off, "winner of the year"? Secondly, they changed the player's name from one sentence to the next. Third, "trashed out from fieldout" makes no sense.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryI thought Henry G was the guy and Hesperia Gales was the team.
Not Three Laws compliant. The translation doesn't help, given that it fails to define which is which using a definite article as simple as "the" before "Hesperia Gales"
Either way, it's unclear and could've been subject to better editing.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryThe main thing I remember of the dialogue is how many times Dingo says 'comrades'. I don't think it's quite enough for it to be a fun drinking game, but still...
Seriously, Kojima does not like switching to Japanese voices. Seems pseudo-racist towards those who enjoy Japanese voice action don't you think?
Okay so I finally got this. Can you aim the sniper?
This is a robbery. Give me all of your money and I'll kill you.
