OK, in one story, I have it that you can ressurect a stillborn baby and give them awesome powers by implanting a newborn spirit being into them. The resulting child alternates personality between the spirit being (who thinks very differently from human) and their own true personality.

I was thinking of having the main character be a ressurected trisomy 18 baby, and I've done a pile of research into what the rare survivors with that condition are like (can't talk, usually can't walk, often stick their fingers in their mouth, etc). I've also mostly figured out what I want the spirit being to be like.

Problem? I don't have a plot.

I was thinking of starting with the main character's mother, a witch, getting a prenatal diagnosis of trisomy 18 and researching magical ways to save her child. But I don't know where to go from there.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Maybe the resurrected baby causes big problems because of its spirit-being personality? Or maybe it's completely harmless, but people persecute mother and undead child anyway?

I've returned from the depths to continue politely irritating the good people of TV Tropes.(◕‿◕✿)

So does the child grow or is it forever a baby?

Grows up. It's basically alive, but dependent on the spirit being to stay alive.
