Yes. Cardboard boxes (and sheer psychology and mechanism behind it) has always been the greatest weapon of humanity, not a Metal Gear. It can even surpass nanomachines (son) and parasites (son).

I just had a terrible idea. Cardboard Tank, size of a Metal Gear, powered by nanomachines, as well as nanomachine-powered parasites. Big Boss will yell: "I'm f****** invincible!" riding this. And when his enemies will yell: "Why won't you die?". He will say: "Cardboard, son".

Armstrong's pretty much the pinnacle of MGS insanity, I don't think it could get any crazier than him... save for maybe Psycho Mantis and the mind-fuckery he's capable of.

BTW, somebody made a mod for MGSV that allows Raiden to use the Skulls machete in combat, along with some additional melee moves!

Armstrong isn't really right-wing. He's not really placeable anywhere on a conventional spectrum.

In fact, I think that's why they chose to give him a yellow tie rather than an immediately-suggestive red or blue tie.

I know American culture tends to permeate the rest of the world, but would the meaning behind red and blue in American politics be something a Japanese developer would consider? The distinction only goes back about 20 years (the mess surrounding Bush v. Gore was when they became associated with particular parties), and while the colour of a tie is suggestive, I don't think that Republican senators only wear red ties, and Democrat senators only wear blue.

Considering how rampant a theme it is, I think it's safe to assume Kojima's fascinated enough with American politics to at least know their color associations.

I seem to recall it being stated somewhere that Armstrong was specifically designed to not be immediately identifiable as "liberal" or "conservative", and yellow ties are not particularly common attire, so I do think it was a deliberate design choice.

Solidus Snake's twin katanas were named "Republic" and Democracy", so it's probably an intentional choice.

Specifically, Republican congresspeople typically wear red ties and Dems blue.

... That said, they were remarkably prescient with the direction the GOP went in, all things considered.

Well, they do restore a lot of stamina...

I just killed the End at the Ponizovje warehouse in MGS 3 and took on the Ocelot Unit at Sokrovenno instead.

That fight is actually pretty lame, I prefer the normal boss fight against the End instead, especially when you're trying to non-lethal him with your tranquilizer pistol and you have to stalk him through the forest.
