Haha, the main theme just freaked me out, because I wanted to look at the lyrics so I had it playing on my laptop, but then I started hearing this weird echo. I was really worried about my hearing/mental state until I realized it was coming from my TV.

And I can appreciate an introspective moment but I'm rushing because I'm itching for the rest of the storyline and I've gotten a little careless, gameplay-wise, trying to get to the next plot area.

There are some that have the willpower to drag out something new for a long period of time to savor it. I am afraid I lack that willpower.

On an unrelated note, I have to say that Sniper Wolf's and Emma Emmerich's deaths were really powerful. I feel pretty bad for Otacon, poor sucker.

You might want to slow it down somewhat when you reach the Grozny Grad airbase. Lots of little goodies and new weapons lying around. Particularly of note is the LMG you can find in one of the armories.

And after you loot the armories, splode the armories. You will be glad you did it.

Yep. You can even do that to food storage shacks. They both makes things easier for you.

I love that Raiden thinks the best way to escort a person that has trouble walking on their own is to put them in a choke hold and drag them.

But in all seriousness, why won't it let me take her by the hand to guide her?

You can if you use the Action button. It's tricky to get the spacing right, and you have to hold it continuously (equally annoying).

EDIT: I'm guessing that blowing up the armories will prevent some future attack or something? (And yet I still get mad when people spoil things after asking questions like this)

Whenever an armory is destroyed, it will prevent the enemy from using the better guns, grenades, and they will run out of ammo quickly. It will actually get to the point that if they run out of ammo for both their rifle and pistol, they'll start charging you with a knife, or failing that, running away from you!

The food storage, when destroyed, causes them to become hungry. Doesn't sound like much... until you realize that they'll become desperate enough to eat anything, including obviously poisoned or booby-trapped food. They'll also have less stamina, and seem to get knocked out slightly more quickly.

Destroying stuff like communications equipment will cause them to have difficulties contacting command and raising the alarm. Unfortunately you only get one or two chances to do that one. sad

Destroying generators, while sounding awesome, is easily the least worthwhile target: it only disables electric fences.

Destroying the Hind gunship you find at the helipad just before fighting Ocelot prevents the gunships from appearing at a later point in the game. However, some folks find that their replacement (the flying platforms) is actually harder to sneak by and deal with.

[up][up] Not really plot related as far as I'm aware, although this is the first I've heard of it as well.

It might make a section easier, but that section isn't very hard anyway.

I tried to blow up the barrels around them and put TNT inside one of them and detonated it but didn't see any visible effects. Perhaps I didn't use enough or something.

Either way, I'm playing on Easy (I always play through games on an Easy difficulty first for the storyline, then go back and play for the challenge) so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle either way.

Really? It's not like MGS 3 was that hard. Sure, you don't have the radar from the previous games, but they make up for it in a bunch of different ways. And the few hard shootouts (ex. whenever you run into the Ocelot unit) could even be snuck through, if you're crafty enough.

I played on easy too, but that's for lack of self esteem. Either way you did it right, but it doesn't take effect for a while.

[up][up]But when your awful at games, things like that don't really matter. We just expect to see the game "Game Over" screen a lot.

Joking aside, I'm like Devium in regards to the difficulty setting. I found the higher ones to be tough though, so I haven't really progressed far in them.

[up]Roughly how long does it take before the effects start to happen?

Uh, depends really. After the next story beat probably, though saving and quitting takes up game time in Snake Eater so if you quit and come back later it'll probably take effect.

There are too many things on the internet with shitty Metal Gear Shout Outs.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

[up]...so you're saying the Internet has too many Metal Gear references?

Just beat The Fury. Heads up for anyone fighting him, he will knock you off the edge of the map. I found this out the hard way. Twice. Although to be fair that last time was arrogance ("Nah, it can't happen again, I've got better reflexes than that").

Did puncturing his suit cause any noticeable changes in the fight? He mentioned it when I popped a cap in his sorry ass but I didn't notice the fight becoming harder/easier. And I've heard his uniform makes you immune to flamethrowers which, of course, would've been really useful for that fight but probably not ever again, with my luck.

His uniform is also good with brick buildings for camo and can prevent burns. It's still not all that great.

Puncturing his suit causes him to stand still for a moment or two, allowing you to plug him again, I think.

I really enjoyed that fight. Good use of ambient music and the flame effects looked great on the 3DS's screen.

I wish you got to have a real fight with Fortune in MGS 2 instead of just the survival fight before going after Fatman.

Puncturing the Fury's suit makes him vunerable to explosives. It's also supposed to make him vunerable against his own flames, but I've never seen him take damage from his own rocket fuel.

Okay. I was going for the nonlethal kill (only one I've missed so far is Ocelot) so the explosives wouldn't have helped me too much, but that will be good for future (harder) runs.

Doesn't Ocelot's uniform prevent hand shaking or something? I would've preferred if it made non-stop purring noises or something.

Yes Ocelot's camo steadies your guns, making it easier to hit with them. Do you know how to get the sneaking suit?

I'm guessing you have to hold up a certain number of people or shoot all of those frogs?

I think I heard a certain way of getting it, by going through the game undetected. I'll just stick to shooting frogs.
