Well now I feel a bit silly. I bought a PS 4 just for Metal Gear.
Eh, my PC probably couldn't even come close to running these games anwyay.
Oh really when?I think I heard something about the PS 4 having PC specs or whatever.
I mean, unless they intentionally gimp the PC version, it should look better than every other version at max settings.
Right now, bang for your buck, the PS 4 is, most of the time, better than a 400$ PC, but it doesn't compare to anything more expensive.
Oh man, I just realized this also means Metal Gear Online 3 on PC.

after finishing Grounde Zeroes once more, something caught my attention in the credits: the translation was done by a Marc Laidslaw, the name sounded familiar to me,I checked, and, yes,it's the same guy who did the fan-translation of Policenauts for the PS 1. What a nice coincidence, huh?
The news that Kojima will be bringing MGS 5 to the PC is great news, but his particular choice of bringing it to Steam has me wondering about a certain function of said venue. Namely, is he planning to allow the fanbase to mod the game? Because if so, then consider me absolutely sold on pre-ordering that sucker for the PC, cause I can't even begin to imagine what awesome scenarios the fans will try to re-create!
I will be sorely disappointed if, after the mandatory dozen or so nude mods, the most popular mod isn't ZEKE vs. Godzilla.
#IceBearForPresidentMy guess is that aside from the ideas you mentioned and graphical enhancement mods being the most popular (because since when is a hardcore PC enthusiast with a monster gaming rig EVER pleased?), we're gonna be seeing a ton of remakes of Shadow Moses from MGS 1 and perhaps the areas of Snake Eater too, provided Kojima opens up enough of the game's source code to the public.
We already got a remake of MG 1 as both The Twin Snakes and the Deja Vu mission. >_>
#IceBearForPresidentFans have a weird habit of remaking stuff that they loved, even if it was remade in a billion other ways a billion other times. A good example being World 1-1 from the original Super Mario world in almost every sidescrolling videogame with a level editor ever made, or how Counterstrike's DE_Dust map keeps on getting added in by the fans no matter how many newer and better maps are introduced.
>Revengeance on PC seems to be fine
arguably the best and most complete version of the game. i have it and it's optimized well enough that even my subpar laptop can run it with only occasional lag issues.
speaking of which, revengeance was a damn good game. my only real complaint is that it's too short, but that's prefferable to it dragging on and on. quinton flynn's gravelly jack the ripper voice is impossible to take seriously but i stopped taking metal gear all that seriously once i realized how narmy a lot of it was so i guess it's whatever.
The length is understandable when you consider the ridiculously short dev cycle. MGR 2 should have a significantly higher amount of content.
...Wasn't Rising in development for over 4 years? You'd think they'd have more to show for it either in length or unlockables all things considered.
well the kojima productions version of the game was eventually scrapped because the team couldn't settle on a unified vision of the game, iirc. the final version of the game by platinum may have been mostly built from the ground up sometime later, idk how much of the assets from the original game they even had to use.
I think they got Raiden's model, and maybe the Mastiffs. The rest was built from the ground up in something like 13 months.
...With MGS V coming to PC, well, I now have even more motivation to get a computer that is Not Obsolete. So many games to play after high school finals...
I wonder if they'll bring the Legacy Collection (and maybe Portable Ops) to PC as well. Sure, it probably will result in needing to purchase a new hard disk or a Blu-ray drive, but think of the things that can be done...
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotI got a PSP a while back, and got a copy of Peace Walker off Ebay. When I buy a memory card I'll start playing it - I'm more than halfway through Ridge Racer again, and I'm not losing that data :P
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.David Hayter booted out for Kiefer Sutherland. "Let's sell the prologue and call it Ground Zeroes, rework the gameplay mechanics, and fill it with some really hollow, Extra Ops content! In fact, let's be really vague about the entire project and make people think The Phantom Pain is something else! People will still buy it!"
David Hayter returns for a fan-made remake of the game that started it all. "Nope. Not going to work. No one will buy it. We can't agree to give up such a popular vocal talent. Sorry, close it all down. Can't risk alienating our fanbase."

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!To avoid a potential flame war, I got this to ask: Anyone here know Japanese, because I'm wondering why the events of the MSX games were referred to as "Outer Heaven Uprising" and "Zanzibar Land Disturbance?" I mean, is it a usage of kanji thing?

One was an uprising, another was considered a disturbance? Could just be the translation.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).But what was put into "Autāhebun no _" and "Zanjibarurando no _" that led to "Outer Heaven Uprising" and "Zanzibar Land Disturbance" respectively?
Another question about differentiating between English and Japanese scripts: In the Japanese scripts, "The Patriots" is translated into "Aikokusha-tachi" and "The Philosophers" into "Ken ja-tachi," then what's the whole point of "RAT PT 01 (Rat Patrol 01)" = "PATR 10 T"?

So I got the HD collection today. Started with MGS 2 obviously, gotten to the fight with Olga and I already hate this game.
Who thought it was a good idea to include a boss who has a phase where she can barely not see you, chucks grenades like nobody's business, and can't be hit if she's seen you in a stealth game? As the first boss?
Unless I'm stupid because I may pretty damn well be.
Stun grenades and constantly switching positions are the key to the last half of that fight. It probably meant that you were staying in one particular corner for too long and now she's trying to pin you down with a volley of gunfire and grenades.
That, or wait until she reloads and then make a dash for the next cover area, or wait until she chucks a grenade, and THEN run - both times it takes her a bit to actually notice you moving, so if you're fast enough she might not actually see you relocate.
She reloads way too fast for me to get any shots off, and she can still see me when she's priming a grenade.
I might just be really bad at stealth games.
Revengeance on PC seems to be fine, the MGS 1 on PC was also good, the only one that was shoddy was MGS 2, and even then it was... serviceable (my first time playing MGS 2 was on PC).
Konami was really satisfied wih how Revengeance sold on PC, so probably more care will be put to MGSV.
And also, the FOX Engine was made with PC in mind.
