So, how are the Packers handling these negotiations? Because, you know, the town owns them. Do they have a rep for the shareholders?

I hear that they might bring in rugby if this deal doesn't go through; can't say I'm sad to hear that.[lol]

[up][up] The team President/CEO would represent them. Who at present would be Mark Murphy.

Why do I get the idea that part of this happened because Roger Goodell actually disciplined players? The previous commissioner never seemed to anything (the maximum suspension that anyone seemed to get for anything was four games). When Goodell began cracking down on character issues and drug abuse, it was a breath of fresh air.

Whatever happens, Goodell should keep his job as commissioner. A league where people like Pacman Jones and Plaxico Burress doing whatever the hell they want and not getting disciplined is a scary place.

What do you mean by "this"? The lockout itself was actually started by the owners, but if you mean how the players are getting on board with it fairly quickly, then I can see your point.

By this, I mean the lockout. Goodell disciplined players for conduct issues and cracked down on many problems. Before then, these were swept under the rug and players went on their business. Before Goodell, you had drugs, violence and even murder go unnoticed due to the previous commissioner's carelessness.

When Goodell cracked down, owners and some players got angry. The lockout could be their retaliation against him.

Goodell is far too nosy. He should get kicked out, for starters.

It's well and good to keep doping out from football, but that dude takes it too far by prying into the personal lives of players.

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.

Well, it's better to be nosy than to be completely careless. Imagine if you had a drug problem and your parents did not care at all.

I actually have some respect for Goodell. Granted, when the worst of that stuff was going on, I was probably in first grade or younger, but I think he's done a decent job cleaning up the league. That said, it still seems like players get away with stuff that an average guy would get a much harsher sentence for, but whatareyougonnado.

In any case, I think the lockout is more the owners deciding they let the players have too much last time around. And in any case, things continue to look good in terms of optimism about an agreement.

Hopefully this gets resolved soon. NFL is the only reason I ever watch TV anymore.

Damn it! I was looking forward to a possible year without anyone talking about pro-football.

[up] Sorry to disappoint you ;)

Well, this thread's pretty much done, I guess, since the entire subject of its existence is over.
