Anything that could trigger Finn and Gill's changes?
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.Okay, maybe not puberty in this case (you said they're about seven, right), but the point is that the changes could be triggered by them entering a new stage of physical development.
Then how did they survive in the ocean before their mum dumped on land?
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.Well, one explanation you can use is that merfolk children typically can't survive in water at birth, and thus need a surrogate family until they change (in a sort of parallel to the "faerie children needing to feed on human milk" thing I mentioned earlier. Or amphibians, only in the reverse direction.)
That sounds cool, although it may be to close to an awful Disney Channel movie I once saw. Also any thoughts on a nightmare fuel ritual for Maria's change?

Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.Has anyone noticed in Changeling fantasies the adoptive parents, even when they know of their kid's heritage never try to prepare the kid?

Well Fin and Gill have known Maria since they were very young and it would seem strange if both their familes moved to the same town at the same time.
