Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

It seems like long term it results in better adjusted adults. Good to hear it works.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHeck, it seems that early puberty in general has been causing problems for kids for quite a while, and it's been something of a medical conundrum.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It might be a good thing to use this to slow the puberty of kids who have issues with early puberty to give them a better outcome.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickYeah. I mean, my main concern is that running extended experiments on minors is generally not cool, but there's not always any way around it when you're looking at something that happens in puberty, and it sounds like they're going through as much informed consent and selection as can be hoped for.
Yeah. Unfortunately, there are diseases that only affect children, and issues with puberty all result in us experimenting on children because the alternative is pretty horrible. That and not knowing the right dosing for children leads to all sorts of messes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOn the one hand, it's a private religious school and they can reject whoever they want.
On the other, they're advertising themselves as non-denominational but applying denominational doctrine.
in some christian circles, i've seen "non-denominational" mean "we don't follow any of the man-made churches, we only worship the trinity," in fact a code for a very specific denomination.
It's tricky, because it can mean multiple things.
OK state lawmaker Sally Kern triples down on LGBT hatred, submitting bills to 1) strip salary from any state clerk who files a gay marriage license; 2) allow parents to force their children into conversion "therapy"; and 3) legalize religious discrimination against LGBT people.

Is there any particular reason you feel the need to use the phrase "hetrofacist" over just "facist"?
Though I do agree with your point, such a horrible women deserves to be kept far away from any and all power imaginable.
Fixed my pronone.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranShe's a woman, and since she's also racist and misogynistic heterofacist is probably a bit too narrow. She seems to be an all purpose bigot.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickPronone fixed. Facist probably works all by itself, that tends to cover everything doesn't it?
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranBy that logic, white supremacists should just be called supremacists.
I giggle every time "shove it down our throats" is mentioned in conjunction with gay rights stuff.

....Sally Kern can go sit on it and give it a good twist. I'm just glad that nothing she's proposing can ever get past the courts to to how blatantly discriminatory it is
The proposed bills are really just designed to bait the courts, though. The one law 1599 seems to say that courts are not allowed to accept challenges to this law. So i guess judicial review now is a liberal conspiracy?
A federal judge just ruled against Alabama's SSM ban. Without imposing a stay.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. Now? Reactionaries have been complaining about "Judicial Activism" for years, and they almost always mean, "Waaah, the courts say I'm not allowed to be an asshole to (gays/minorities/muslims/whoever)! Waaah!"

That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswI read this article about Kern apologizing for misogyny and racism (though not homophobia), and I wonder...
Do politicians apologize because they decide that they were wrong, because they see that they've hurt people, or is it mainly just to repolish their reputation?
I imagine like everybody else, it's a combination of the three. You have to look at their actions after the apology and see if there's really a change.
Welp

Alabama puts a 2 week stay on same-sex marriages.
If I had access to a You Tube video, I'd probably put "F*** You" by C. Lo Green. So it's probably best I don't have access right now.
This is really good news. Honestly this was my only hesitation about medically altering children before 18: that they could have negative health effects. Of course that has to be balanced with the mental and emotional effects and that's worthconsidering. But as a parent, you just have to be careful and weight everything before picking the best option on behalf of your kid.
So this is very reassuring that you can give your child the time they need to confirm this is the decision for them and to what degree they wish to change it without causing them any adverse conditions.
