How different is master grade from High Grade and Real Grade?
MG kits consist of more parts, and they're made with a much higher degree of structural detail. They're also bigger.
I dabble in Gunpla, but my cousin's a real whiz at it.
(She couldn't really care less about the anime, she just likes making the models.)
I have an unopened Perfect Grade Wing Zero Custom, but I haven't touched it for fear of screwing it up royally.

Play Again? Y/NPerfect is awesome. The wrists will actually support weight. I do recommend not trying to do the wiring in the Perfect Grade Wing Zero Custom if you don't know how.
Fight smart, not fair.I've never made a PG before in my life. I only bought that because I was in Japan at the time and it seemed like something nice to just have.
Play Again? Y/NOkay, I guess my question was dumb, cos I could've (and I guess did) been able to tell all that just by comparing prices and box size.
But um, RG are like MG level-detail/complexity on HG-size kits, right?

It depends on the model. For instance, a Perfect grade Dendrobium has a gundam model the size of a Masters grade, but because the whole kit is almost a meter long still has a much higher level of complexity.
Fight smart, not fair. Now that is one I always wanted get and try to put together.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I want one so I can use it like a chandelier.
Fight smart, not fair.Hobbylink Japan is having a sale on SD kits. Has anyone here ever built them? Are they worth the effort/time/money?
Apparently painting is a requirement with these guys?
It's never a "requirement", per se, but kits always look nicer if you do a proper paint job on them.
Also, things like weathering, panel-lining, etc etc aren't mandatory, but it depends on much effort you're willing to invest in the end product.
Play Again? Y/NJust ordered a RG Destiny and a MG 00 Quanta. Looking forward to em.
"So long as mankind exists, there will always be battles."My only Gunpla that I have actually built well is the HG AGE-1 Titus. I have built the Strike Gundam RG, but the wings and sholder armor aren't good. I built (and broke) the G-Exes Jackedge for a first unit.
I'm thinking about the RG Unicorn or the HG Johnny Ridden Zaku II next.
hiA Gunpla thread, eh?
I never order a Gunpla. I brought them on my local store. I live at Malaysia and they sold Gunpla here.
Well, I had some Gunpla. Some of them are broken because I have no idea. My G-Exes Jackedge had it's right hand and it's sword broken. I accidentally cut Gundam AGE-1 Titus chest piece. But otherwise, it looked OK. I can't fit its beam spike too. I screwed up Gundam AGE-FX Burst's left feet. But I did fix it with super glue. Not to mention I accidentally broke one of its arm's peg. It still fits that arm guard thingy since it only had one left. But the arm guard get loose overtime.
Man, I'm sure bad at keeping them in a good shape...
Yet somehow, I didn't screw up any LBX model kit. Aside for Achilles' cape, which you had to cut it from the manual. Since I'm bad at cutting, well...
Holy shit a Gunpla thread, damn. Nice.
Er, I used to really be into the thing, but hobby was really expensive so now I just stare at the various unbuilt boxes of Gunpla I have near my bed.
In particular, the Nu Gundam ver. Ka(MG), Crossbone Gundam with the cloth and everything(MG), Zeta Gundam(Both RG and MG), and I think, an Eva Unit 3(Which isn't really Gunpla but yeah)
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueWow, a Nu Ver Ka is like the greatest kit ever made if what I'm led to believe is true, it's got very few flaws and it's Psychoframe is perfectly handled.
"So long as mankind exists, there will always be battles."WOO!!! I just ordered a MG 00 Raiser and some LED's to go with it.
"So long as mankind exists, there will always be battles."I just got Hi-Nu and 00 Raiser SD for chirstmas. Both are great sets, and much easier than 1/144
hiDamn, I'm envious. I always wanted to try a 00 MG kit, wanted it to be my first MG actually. In the end I got an Exia instead which is cool, but it can't stand to save someone's life.
1/144 are pretty easy, but if you're beginning out, yeah, the SD kits are better. Cheaper, easier, you can experiment with them around and all.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueGot a HG Gundam Ez-8. I didn't broke anything while building it. But I broke its left arm after building it.
I remember building a few of them when wing was on tv. I am sure I wasn't careful with any of them at all and the half of the v fin was cut off from one of them.
And since the store I checked out had a 30% discount till jan I...sorta bought a few more. (And I somehow dragged my aunt into this, she's a bit of an artist and model building interests her it seems)
A HG asshimar. (Since it's disc shaped form kinda grew on me recently) A MG seven sword. (she picked this, think it was the first one we saw XD)
LED sold separately sadly. (and pricy)

Just built an HGBF Beargguy III.
It was surprisingly easy, and the finished product is so cute I need insulin.
Neither goony beard-men nor rainbow-haired she-twinks will stand in the way of my dreams! The wonders of High Grade stuff, easy yet extremely fun.
Planning to paint or have a photo session? I've never done the latter myself much, but it's definitely a joy to think about the poses and all, and show off and stuff.

"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueI apparently have a kit coming to me from a friend of mine for my birthday. Don't know what it is; who knows, could be the start of a custom unit.
HG's are a mixed bag: they can be as easy as the 0 Gundam ACD and Beargguy III, or they can be as hard as the Sazabi and/or The O.
Neither goony beard-men nor rainbow-haired she-twinks will stand in the way of my dreams!
Just bought my first Master Grade, naturally it's the original Mobile Suit Gundam (RX-78-2). I also picked up a tool kit and a marker to do this up right.
For those of you who live in LA, I just found a pretty kickass store in Chinatown called "Neo Happyland Company" that has the widest selection I've ever seen. I was actually directed there from Little Tokyo, which I find sort of ironic.
