Well, Cygan was wondering why there wasn't one, so I made it. I guess we can talk about queer stuff. :3

(*LGBTQ+ Solidarity huggles*)

Oh, and if you're wondering, non-queer folks are welcome too.

I know. It doesn't matter. People will still report about them, word will get out, and the image of LGBT people will still be negatively affected.

Anyone who would hate LGBT people for that probably already hates us.

They'll hate us more, it's not as if hatred is at a set level all the time. Let's not forget those people who don't really know much better that are on the fence about it that'll see the headline "Extremist Gays Want to Burn Down A Mom And Pop Business."

I'd be satisfied with a boycott driving them out of business. And that's not an overemotional exaggeration; I don't understand how people like this stay in business anywhere outside the Bible Belt anyway.

I'm not going to advocate violence against them or their business, but I would honestly feel no pity or sympathy if they lost their business.

Being black is something you're born with, not a religion or a personal choice.

Actually religion is not a choice for most people; they're born into it, it's part of "who they are", their "identity", their families are extremely invested in it, it's a huge part of their "community life", etc. Religions don't grow by getting converts, they grow by out-breeding the competition. The kind of integrist Christian who would refuse to serve LGBT on religious grounds is extremely unlikely to have chosen to become what they are.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

I was raised a homophobe. I didn't stay that way. At some point I realized something was off about the stuff people filled my head with, and I learned how not to be an asshole. And if I can do it, just about anybody can. So no sympathy for the willfully ignorant here.

Still not innate like race. More like nationality. You cannot shed your skin, but you can change the latter.

[up] and [up][up] These. I will refrain from judging children and even teenagers based on horrible lifestyles that they were brought up in, but functioning adults make their own decisions and choose whether or not to be horrible people. An 40-year-old asshole Christian is choosing to be so, even if they were brought up that way.

What are some notable sociology and psychology authors whose theories and ideas were generally held as solid?

Dude, this is my field! Ask meeee. Why does nobody ever ask me. 😡

You have Bowlby - attachment theory.

Skinner - operant conditioning learning theory.

Bandura - social learning theory.

Pierre - developmental scaffolding theory.

And that's all off the top of my head.

Not Pierre! I got confused. Meant Vygotsky.

And then there's Piaget's operations of learning stuff.

What did you just say about me, young man? I’ll have you know I graduated with a Ph D from Harvard University, and I’ve been involved in research papers on major depressive disorder, and I have over 300 Nobel Prizes. I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy and I’m the top psychotherapist in the entire field. You are nothing to me but just another cognitively-biased individual. I will treat you with enthusiasm the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my words. You think you can get away with saying droll to me over the Internet? Think again, mouthbreather. As we speak I am contacting my network of psychologists across the USA and your email is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your spam folder. You’re treated, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can treat your depression in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my training at Harvard. Not only am I extensively trained in cognitive-behavioral, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the DSM and I will use it to its full extent to treat your depression off the face of your frontal lobes, patient. If only you could have known what retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your tongue. You didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, patient. I will talk and suggest you think positively all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking happy, kiddo.

i spent way too much time on this
