Okay, I plan to see the movie after work tomorrow.

So do we think there will be another Hunger Games movie since this one is starting to break even?

If there is one, my one wish is for there to be a movie about Haymitch's Hunger Games and the aftermath of him being broken down over the course of several years of failures.

It's been 3000 years…

My one fear is they would just do different Hunger Games and it would all get same-y after a while.

I would want to see the war, maybe. Or at least figure out WHY they’re called the Hunger Games.

I wish that the first Hunger Games Katniss was in was actually the 73rd and not the 74th. That's because we'd get to see a year of her and Peeta being Mentors to two new tributes along with Haymitch and that could've gone either way—and also would love a What If? of seeing if for the 75th Katniss was selected, but then Peeta was too and Haymitch volunteered in his place. I otherwise think Catching Fire is one of the best sequels ever made though.

Also, I love that Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes had a fantastic hold this past weekend and it's almost at 100 million domestic. Hoping Can't Catch Me Now gets nominated for Best Original Song—not just to give Olivia Rodrigo nominee recognition, but to make up for snubbing Atlas as well.

Also, Viola Davis? Definitely channeling her inner Emperor Palpatine as Gaul. Haha.

Also also, if Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler get nominated for Best Kiss at the Movie & TV Awards next year? They totally earned it.

Kinda hope both blyth and Davis get best villain noms. Since their the most praised things in it.

[up][up]I would LOVE for Viola Davis to be nominated for Best Villain like Donald Sutherland was nearly ten years ago—and depending on who the Disney candidate is this year—be it straight Disney or MCU or Star Wars, I want her to win too. With Tom Blyth, Coriolanus Snow is too ambiguous in his actions here for it. I would also love to see Rachel Zegler nominated for Best Hero too.

When it comes to Best Villain, her biggest competition from Disney/MCU/Star Wars is either Melissa McCarthy or Chukwudi Iwuji—with one playing a classic Disney villain and the other playing a super villain now arguably recognized as one of the most hateful and sadistic villains in the whole MCU (be the only GotG one to be nominated too not counting Josh Brolin as Thanos). I enjoyed Zawe Ashton in The Marvels, but that movie's not popular and I don't see her getting any recognition for it though.

[up]No there's not. Sorry.

Had a thought about something else in the movie, but I'll wait until Shadow gets out of it first though.

Okay. It was good. I enjoyed it. I loved Zegler and the fact that the games were only proposed as a JOKE.

I’m wondering how Lionsgate is gonna try and keep this going…

At any rate, I got ideas for Hunger Games AUs for my favorite shows. Owl House, Scott Pilgrim… nobody is safe.

You know, aside from the Toy Story movies this is the only franchise where I’ve seen every movie in theatres. (MCU doesn’t count plus I missed Hulk)

[up]I missed both Iron Man 3 and the first Ant-Man. If ever I get the chance to see either in the theater, I will take the opportunity though.

One thing I think I wanted to say was that I loved the scene where Lucy Gray had the snakes around her and was singing her heart out thinking she was about to die. The passion and emotional pull of that moment both got me.

If anything, this movie is a great showcase of Rachel Zegler's acting abilities.

[up]I can't blame her if she doesn't. I think she barely wanted to write the prequel.

I was confused at first about who Coriolanus's third victim was since he'd also had a hand in what happened to Jessup too. That said, Jessup suffered a horrible affliction before that, so makes sense that he couldn't be saved. What happened was probably a Mercy Kill in his case instead of a straight-up murder.

Also loved that Lucy Gray figured out Coriolanus sold Sejanus out even before his Freudian Slip too. His saying three instead of two basically confirmed what she already knew once that happened.

If they did another one where Katniss and Peeta tried to find her in the aftermath of the war, who could play Lucy Gray if they decide she's alive? I really like Ali MacGraw for it.

Re: Haymitch’s games as a potential prequel film — a big part of what makes his games compelling is Madge’s aunt and the mockingjay pin origin (*parks and rec cones meme* it’s all about the LEGACY) which were excised from the film continuity.

I think the logical sequel-prequel, especially if they want to keep the “Snow descending into President Evil” train going, would be to focus on Mags’ games, the year after — that way you get a film where a known character (conveniently mute during the main story, so there’s also a blank slate aspect) winning is a Foregone Conclusion. But as said it would probably depend on Collins.

Since we didn't get the details on how Haymitch won in the movies—even though we definitely got that info in the books though, I would agree that there's definitely a compelling story there—especially with the consequences he had to suffer as a result too.

I'm imagining a scene where if Lucy Gray also lived to a much older age and then dies, she briefly arrives in purgatory with Snow waiting to talk to her as he was able to get a brief stay there before being forced to report to Hell for the rest of eternity.[lol]

I like Ballad of Songbirds so far I'm in Part 3.

great showcase of Rachel Zegler's acting abilities

Isn't she under fire in Hollywood right now for talking negatively of the original Snow White and making her version out to be the progressive one.

I freaking knew I recognized Lucy Gray Baird but I couldn't place it. I like the scene of her singing to the snakes.

[up]I love that scene as I said before.

I'm hoping Rachel Zegler can definitely keep her career alive with all the negative attention hateful naysayers are giving. That's a discussion for another place though.

What they could call a sequel in which Katniss and Peeta go looking for Lucy Gray: The Mockingjay and the Songbird. Haha.

Isn't she under fire in Hollywood right now for talking negatively of the original Snow White and making her version out to be the progressive one.

There's a certain subset of people making a big stink about her not liking Snow White, but I seriously doubt anyone actually working in Hollywood cares.

It's not that she doesn't like Snow White, there's just stuff she feels doesn't fit with what today's standards are for women roles nowadays when it comes to being progressive.

Again, not the place for it. I hear they did soften up the role of Lucy Gray a little because they wanted the audience to still root for her. I can understand why while also feeling like they should've been braver about it instead.

Movie came out on digital last week. Still waiting for DVD in either February or March and STILL reading the book too. At page 100 right now.

Can't Catch Me Now is eligible for Best Original Song. Since it wasn't nominated at the Globes, I'm fearful for its chances getting nominated here though.

Can't Catch Me Now made the Short List for Song! That is HUGE!

EDIT 1/25: SIGH. Snubbed again…
