Eh. That's not particularly good. If I that hadn't been the one episode of Doctor Who I had seen, I wouldn't know to look for the second heart.

That was the first thing I thought. Too bad it probably won't work well in wiki size.

Got an idea. Check out this site and click on the "anatomy" tab under "alien biology." Some screencaps from the three images where might work.

The guy who did the modeling put up some profile shots of his own, but his image looks too wide for a tropes page. http://www.robertvignone.com/blog/2011/3/7/battle-la.html

Honestly, I think something like this would do just as well...from our perspective, you don't get much more bizarre than having a hard, carapace-like skin; no visible sensory organs; and an inner mouth instead of a tongue.

Most of those are a no:

One safe way to get around the latter problem is to suggest that while on the outside they're exactly the same, on the inside of your alien, anything goes.

Maybe we should rename this, then.

[up] There's a TRS thread for that.

In light of this, my suggestion is a combination of a pic of a Jaffa from Stargate SG-1 with a pic of a Goa'uld emerging from a Jaffa.

Update: At the TRS discussion, we decided that the best option was to perform a trope transplant. Bizarre Alien Biology is now Exactly What It Says on the Tin, so this thread should start looking for bizarre pictures. The old trope is now called Human Outside, Alien Inside, and pictures intended for that trope should probably go to a new thread for that trope.

Since page quotes are also within the scope of Image Pickin', suggestions for a good page-quote for the new version of Bizarre Alien Biology are also welcomed.

[up] That being the case makes the xenomorph an even stronger suggestion.

I don't think we need a page image for this one the title says this is about anliens having a bizarre biology. All the troper has to is read the title then he or she will know what the trope is about.

I love Galaxy Quest, but honestly, that pic looks a little too much like just an octopus. I think the Xenomorph is fine. It's classic and iconic.

I'm supporting the Xenomorph, I agree it's as iconic as it can get.

Since this is lagging and the xenomorph has some support, it's up, potholed, and tagged; feel free to edit or cull the caption. Locking up.
