Sony has to justify all the extra disc space for the game SOMEhow.

Jonah FalconIts a godawful idea designed to appeal to different nationalities. Maybe they think that Americans seem to relate to their characters more if the characters themselves are American, and they think this will work for any country. It doesn't. As the OP said, I'd prefer to play alongside a varied cast of characters, not have to listen to 3 guys doing hilariously bad impersonations of british people. If i wanted that, I'd just set the voice option to German for the same effect.
Which is pretty damn funny I must say.
Also Blu-Ray > HD DVD.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...Not for videogames, no.
Ever heard of CAV and CLV?
Jonah FalconHow many different regions does this feature cover?

I hope someone from Ireland who plays this game posts up footage on Youtube. I want to hear how THESE guys can misrepresent what an Irish accent is like.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805Funny, reading this, I thought of that option in Need For Speed 4: High Stakes that makes the cops use different accents depending on the track used.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelSocom 4 is not a FPS, get your facts straight.
You felt the need to necro this just to say that?
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOII'd rather hear the accents for where each guy is from. Besides, the Pacific Northwest is rather accent neutral so it would be boring.
Wait.. I got tricked!

Isn't the first game US Navy Seals? Did they expand to other countries militaries at some point in the series?

Okay, I'm not in the demographic for SOCOM 4: Varies by Region, seeing as I don't generally play FPS games other than Left 4 Dead 2, but in watching Zero Punctuation I just learned something about it that makes me cringe.
Your teammates change accent based on whatever region you're in.
I'd kind of love to see a pie chart of the people who really like this idea versus the people who, like me, think it's 180 degrees from how they'd really like the game. (If I liked the game at all, I mean.)
If I'm playing a game, I want my teammates to have cool accents. I want to be playing alongside the Irish guy and the British guy and the Australian guy. I certainly prefer that to playing alongside three Americans. I can hear American accents any day of the week.
It strikes me that if I were ever to get myself a copy of this game, I'd probably try console modding for the first time so I could play a different region's version of the game, just to get more enjoyable accents.
Thoughts?
Only the curious have, if they live, a tale worth telling at all.
