I knew this would happen! Micro$$$oft is gonna go for more money, and kill Halo when it fails. Poor Bungie. Now I actually fell sorry for all Halo fans.

NO MOAR HELO I Z NGRY
...Nah! Anyone else remember when Bungie made non-Halo games?
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOIBungie's going under Activision? Talk about out of the frying pan and into Hell.
Maybe they can make Starcraft Ghost.
It bugs me that nobody seems to know how to let a series die without fucking its corpse anymore.

Bungie played it safe. Activision has no access to their development, they only publish. Kotick can't lay a finger on them.
For the record, Halo canon ends with Reach. I consider anything that isn't written by Bungie's writer noncanonical.
Microsoft installed O'Connor as the public face of 343 Industries, a subsidiary that takes its name from an untrustworthy character in "Halo."
Yep, that probably wasn't the best idea for a name.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Also, isn't the whole medium gonna be flipped upside down? With Halo dead, COD will shortly fall, (remember Guitar Hero) and then something else will rise. What that game will be I have no idea.

Makes you wonder what MS is going to use to sell XBoxes if it manages to kill Halo...

And "Reality" is unveiled. What did it want...? What did it see...? What did it hear...? What did it think...? What did it do...?Sorry for the ignorance, but, what was the supposed bad news here?
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/That Bungie got fucked over.
They're not completely gone. I heard their next project is an MMO. That's going to be a disaster...
I hope they make a space FPS-RPG hybrid. I'd buy it.
I feel bad for Bungie, but do not care about Halo.
Obviously Bungie are good game designers, but Halo very much benefited from the context of its release.
Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchI'm not seeing what the problem is. Bungie's not in trouble or anything. They make games because they like to do it, unlike M$. They're finished with Halo and want to move on to their next project.
Since when Microsoft develop games? I thought they just publish them
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/And here I was thinking we'd be moving away from the regerating health and two weapons barkle.
Stupid misleading title.

I think and hope the First-Person Shooter genre will die soon because of all this.

I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DCOD tried to kill it before,
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/As long as there is widely available online play, FPS will be at the top. They're often easier to make and they thrive on competitive online play. Don't expect the FPS genre to die down anytime soon.
Persoanally, I'm fine with this. Not all shooters are stagnant like COD. I enjoy Brink and MAG. There are good FPS and there are bad FPS.
Rather sad, but it's better to let the series die with dignity than let it spawn the next Sonic '06 twenty years down the line.
As for 343 Industries. I can't see it lasting, Halo's fanbase is of the unpleasable variety, and I don't think that anything 343 could do would change that.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....I loved Halo's story. I thought it was one of the best I've seen in a video game.
Agreed.
Shame no one really seemed to pay attention to it, tho'.
I myself could only tell you the basics.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....
Read this article. Encoded therein you will find messages from M$ about how they are going about the job of destroying the franchise.
You will also find messages from the Bee Squad hinting very obliquely at how their uncrushed souls will soon show us a Better Way.
