Hayate flipped over another ape which had tried to hit him, gripping its neck with his legs and bringing it down with an almighty crash. "Let's go!" he said, getting to his feet and taking off towards the boat. Behind him, Freyjadour conjured a wall of flame to ward off their assailants. He wasn't really surprised. Just... slightly intrigued. So it seems like some of the people here know magic too...

Rey had silently listened in on plans to repair the ship, and watched the approaching new ones with curiosity, but as soon as they attacked, he was on the move, grunting and heading back towards the cabin as fast as he could go. He managed to lean against the walls of the cabin, holding up his walking cane and swinging it wildly, trying to distract away anything that might be coming too near him. "This sucks this sucks this sucks!"

Previously

Ithilrandir was about to suggest to the rest the sort of "punishment" he had in mind with K. Rool - namely, release him with his entire crew sans any weapon they had on their person. It was the sort of treatment the Noldors tended to give to their lordly prisoners after all. To them, there was no other humiliation greater than to be pitied upon by their enemies, a belief well shared by their worst enemies the Jatu and certain lords and nobles of the Empire.

However, since the others were about to do the same thing to the pirate captain anyway with no ill will attached, he might as well sit on the sideline and do nothing...

Presently

Since the attack commenced the Noldor lord had been sitting in the sideline, particularly on the Raven Claw's deck, crouching to avoid drawing too much attention, keeping an eye on their enemies' intents and formations. Stress permeated his eyes as they strained to scan the horizon for any gap in the enemy formation he could exploit. He was not used to fighting on water, and that showed. Not that such minor terrain disadvantages would hold him back any more than the curse already had.

In his initial assessment, he watched out for three things: Whether the enemies were armed with any ranged weapon or not, whether their armor are adequate, and whether their close-range weapons, if any, were dangerous enough. The first was out of the question - it was not likely they would be able to shoot at all in that dense formation and the hapless advancing. Their melee weapons were also nothing very special - just the regular fare of sword and cutlass of varying quality. It was their heavy armor and number that seemed daunting. That and their support artillery, albeit their use of ammunition did raise a lot of questions.

With that firepower they could as well sink the entirety of the adventurers' "fleet" if they chose to. The fact that they instead chose to block off their retreat could mean only one thing - They wanted prisoners. A bad move, the Noldor lord thought.

Patiently he waited for his foolish enemies to attempt to board, readying not his greataxe but his throwing axe in one-handed mode. At the quarter he was expecting to hold the line, that weapon's range and power mix was the most idea he had in his arsenal. The moment any of them would come towards his position, he would unleash a flurry of axe blows at the unfortunate machines to invade upon his attack range.

#19450 watched the robots launch into the air onto (and around) their boats, gritting her teeth slightly. She didn't prefer fighting up close, heck she mostly preferred taking a more supportive role, but she'd fight up close if she had to. Moving quickly to one side to avoid a falling robot, she pressed a button on her remote to make her pistols disappear in a flash of orange light. Then the light converged, and formed into the gladius again.

The robot that had nearly landed on her before was suddenly seperated into two at the waist, then #19450 quickly dashed for the next nearest one to use a diagonal slash, and so on with whatever robots got closest. Thanks to her weapon being laconic, the robots being made of metal seemed to make little difference. However with practically no defense of her own, she just had to hope she didn't get hit in return...

As the island group headed back the way they had come, through the green paradise of evolution that no longer seemed so idyllic, they would eventually reach the beach. The strange bubble-creatures had long since vanished back into the sea, and the beach seemed eerily deserted, but the screaming, hollering pack of hominids seemed closer than ever. Should the group turn behind them, they would see an even larger mob of the creatures, all of them clutching brutal ramshackle weaponry, emitting their deafening screams and shrieks. It was clear that this had all been planned by the posthumans- it was all a trap.

"Great..." muttered Jenny, and that was before she saw the boats under siege. "...I guess we'll have to stand and fight."

Her laser cannon primed and ready to fire, she tensed herself for another confrontation with the implacable hominids- that is, until a bellow from the woods- folowed by another, and another, ccombining into a single cacaphonious war-cry, sounded from the woods- and an entire mob of white creatures burst from the foliage, knuckling into the mob of their smaller kin and causing them to shriek in surprise. One of them, clutching a bundle of white fur, might appear familiar to the group...

19450's gladius sliced through the robots like tin foil, causing the robots to harmlessly explode into chunks of scrap. Despite the sheer ferocity of their attacks and their intimidating look, the robots seems to be oddly weak towards sharp objects, even with the Trope-tan's weaponry being laconic.

Ithilrandir would have himself quickly surrounded as a pair of robot landed next to him, with a third flying down towards him, its sword aimed right for the Noldor.....

Rey's clumsy waving of his crutch somehow managed to fend off against the sword swings or a pair of robots.

At this point, the underwater robots had succeeded in climbing onto the boats.....

"Oh for crying out loud..." when Lina returned to the beach where they had all landed, she found that the others had left her behind and were already back on the ship. She also noted that the cards were no longer lying where they had been. In her hands she held her cape with all four corners tied together to form a large sack. She'd looped this over the stick she'd found and held the stick in both hands. The cape looked about halfway full. "Really guys? This thing is heavy!"

Gritting her teeth, she Raywing-ed across the water back towards the boat, her former speed noticeably cut thanks to her added burden. Once she flew a little too low and the cape-turned-sack skimmed off the surface of the water, sending up a fine, foamy spray behind her. She quickly pulled back up so that her cape wouldn't soak up the saltwater and grow any heavier.

At last she reached the deck and finally landed back on the deck, exhausted. "Great. You couldn't wait for three minutes longer... did one of you pick up those cards, or did the wind finally scatter them? No curses, I hope." She set down the makeshift sack and wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her glove.

"Wow," was all Hayate could say as the white-furred hominids smashed into their brethren. He had been perfectly ready to turn around and fight for his life, once he saw the burning ships. All the same, it was a relief to know that they wouldn't be fighting alone.

Speaking of which... wasn't that the mother they had helped earlier?

He turned to the rest. "I - I think we should help them! Come on!" With that, he rushed into the fray, aiming a jump kick at one of the black apes that would send it crashing back into its fellows.

The flying robot would quickly find its head casually making friends with one of Ithilrandir's throwing axes. Whether the machine itself would appreciate this "friendship" or not, however, is another different matter altogether.

The other two machines' attack would be met with the Noldor lord's timely raising of his round shield, followed by a single step back in a particular angle so as to put distance between himself and one of the robots. The remaining robot, after its attack was absorbed and itself caught off guard, would swiftly find its head facing a most powerful swipe at the crown.

Should the second robot choose to follow up, the Noldor lord would have enough time to raise his shield and repeat that block-attack-block combo.

Should all three of them fall in that sequence, Ithilrandir would return to his position and await further enemies. If none of the attacker would attack him in the next half a minute or so, he would have enough time pull out some tricks they certainly would not like...

After part of the group went off for Island Adventure 2: Electric Boogaloo, Gene decided to stay back this time and take part in his favorite past time of all: sitting on his ass and doing nothing. That didn't mean he was off guard. If their last romp in this curse meant anything, it was that this ocean wasn't nearly as boring as the real thing. He had actually hidden the keg in the cabin so that it wouldn't roll away in case Jaws decided it wasn't about to be upstaged by a big snake. Fortunately neither sea monster nor pirate nor angry natives came after those than left the boat. But they did have an additional passenger. "This is really starting to become a regular party cruise, isn't it?" Gene asked no one in particular, most likely to not be noticed by anyone.

"What do you have there?" Gene asked Lina when she few on deck, actually curious what was so important as to use your cape as a makeshift bag. Then something else clicked "Wait, cards? What cards?" he then looked the rest "What cards?" He repeated, sounding slightly more concerned.

"Some enchanted cards mysteriously sitting around on the beach. Probably nothing to worry about since no sea monsters have shown up yet.

"As to this... well, I found some pineapple, grabbed those and some coconuts, and then came flying back. At the very least we won't be getting scurvy." As she finished she untied the cape, allowing the promised fruit to spill out. "With this many of us it'll only last two or three days, but it was all I could do to carry it all.

"Funny, you'd think I'd have an easier time considering that I'm always lugging around Gourry..." Lina found her gaze focusing on the pillar of light far off in the distance once again. Was she already missing her friends this much? She'd barely been gone a day,but being worlds apart - literally - made the seperation feel a lot more potent. She'd even welcome Xellos at this point, just to see a friendly, scratch that, familiar face.

Something else was bothering her, though. Even though her shamanist spells were working, she felt like they were weaker. Flying with a person in tow was difficult in her world, sure, but she'd learned to handle it. Flying with a load of fruit here felt much harder.

Rushing towards the invading ship with intent to kill, his chains started to blaze with fire hot enough to burn underwater.

Stay Above Water

The robot coming down had its face full of throwing axe, causing it to shut down before impacting the ground and exploding when it did. Everything else fall into the Noldor's predictions, both the robots being felled and harmlessly exploding upon hitting the floor.

...........................

A beat.

More robot pirates landed right near him while robotic hands from the sides revealed some underwater pirates managing the climb up onto deck.

Meanwhile, Rey managed to strike the pirate robot in the head. While the blow was not strong enough to remove its head, the head did spin like a top, causing its body to spin like a top as well in the opposite direction. Only its legs were stable, but the spinning of both its upper sections caused it to stumble around drunkedly, inadvertedly slicing through and bashing several of its fellow robots, destroying a good number of them before coming to a completely stop with its head facing backwards and its body oriented sideways......

......................

A beat.

The head popped off like a cork and its body fell off in an opposite direction as the legs. It exploded just as a pair of robots managed to get on board, destroying them as well.

Away

Seeing Hayate charge the chimp people to help the yetis spurred Oswald back into battle. "YEE-HAW, FOR THE ALAMOOOOOOOOOOO!!" he hollered, waving his shillelagh as run ran into the fray. As the rabbit near one of the chimps he slid along the sand it trip it up then quickly got up and whacked a second chimp in the face. He seeing a chimp trying to climb on top of a yeti with a crude knife in hand, Oswald ran over to it, jumped up, and smashed it in the back of the hand, knocking it out and then pulling the chimp off by its feet.

The rabbit gave a quick salute to the yeti before resuming battle.

Rey blinked, staring at the carnage he'd just inadvertently wrought, and glanced around almost guiltily, as though trying to figure out if anyone else had seen what happened. Very quietly, he backed away towards the cabin again, glancing back to make sure he had an easy escape route.

Karzahni dug his claws into the hull of the ship so he wouldn't fall off.

Digging his claws deeper into the hull, Karzahni began to try and pry some of the hull away.

Flashback, moving forward into the present

May sighed. By now, it was fairly obvious that she wouldn't be able to change Beryl's mind, and she honestly could see where her friend was coming from. Continuing to argue the point probably wouldn't get her anywhere, but...

"Can you at least promise to be careful?" she asked. "If I really can't convince you otherwise... If you really think you have to fight while you're injured, just please, please make sure you're not putting yourself in harm's way or doing any more damage to your wing. That isn't going to help any of us in the long run." She glanced up as a familiar pink ball of fluff made his way around the corner, a drawing folded up in one small hand.

"Hi, Kirby," May added with a small smile.

Not a flashback anymore.

"Of course I will." Raspberyl chirped, grinning in an attempt to look confident and optimistic in the face of uncertainty. She definitely intended to be as careful as she possibly could, but for all she knew, that wouldn't end up being enough. May's concerns were certainly valid, even if the demon girl couldn't bring herself to agree with the notion of leaving the fighting to everyone else, but even as the trainer resigned herself to Raspberyl's decision, the Delinquent got the feeling that her friend still didn't quite understand - It wouldn't help anyone in the long run if her wing was forever broken. That much was true. But keeping her wing healthy at the risk of letting everyone else die was an infinitely worse prospect, and Raspberyl was somewhat surprised that this didn't seem to be getting through to May. She'd have expected the trainer to be one of the first people to make such a sacrifice of herself if necessary, after all. Deciding that May was perhaps not accustomed to thinking in terms of the lesser of two evils

, Raspberyl smiled graciously at her friend.

"Anyway, thanks for helping me out, May. I'm glad you're feeling a little better, too. I was worried about you." Raspberyl said, judging her friend's mood more by how she had looked and sounded before the subject of the demon girl's contribution to the group had come up, rather than how she seemed at that moment.

It was at that point that the tiny pink puffball appeared bearing a true artistic masterpiece. Those present would see Raspberyl's face light up with a flattered grin at the sight of her childishly-depicted victory pose. She hadn't expected to receive anything aside from perhaps a small word of thanks for saving the Dreamlander, and the fact that Kirby had actually taken the time to make this meant quite a lot to her.

"Aww geez, you didn't have to do this, Kirby." Raspberyl smiled humbly, though she was clearly quite happy with it. "Thanks, I love it. I'll make sure to take good care of this." she added earnestly, carefully folding the paper and stowing it away in her bag, fully intending on keeping it safe.

The tide was soon turned against the diminiuitive hominds- their trap foiled, they soon retreated back into the woods, dragging their dead or wounded behind them or crudely slung over their backs. All was quiet, save for the rumbling breathing of the white-haired posthumans that, although bruised and beaten from the fight, stood upright and triumphant. They were enormous, the largest one (clearly a leader of some kind) almost nine feet tall, with a badly scarred face, but one that was still clearly intelligent and cognizant. From behind him, the familiar tundra-dweller, clutching her baby, peered out, eventually loping towards the group.

The baby she held, its belly now far rounder than before, gurgled happily in her arms. Her face, inhuman though it was, seperated from her ancestors by millenia of evolution and natural selection, broke out in what could only be a serene smile. She pointed to the troop of her kin behind her, then pointed to the beach, hooting loudly as she did so, clearly trying to imitate the shrieks of the chimpanzee people. She sat down in the sand- but she held out her baby at arm's length, as if she was no longer afraid of the strange people who had helped her out of the boat. The large grizzled male- evidently her mate, wandered over, sniffing at the group with his broad nose, as the rest of the troop, approximately fifteen other creatures, followed suit, gingerly sniffing the group one by one and occasionaly poking or prodding them, in a mixture of curiosity and apprehension.

A combination of Karzahni's brute strength and his chain super heating the water around him allowed the former God to ram through the beetle robots like walls of the paper cups, sending shrapnel everywhere. One errant buzzsaw went flying into the beetle attacking Jim, harmlessly blowing up in the water.

Meanwhile, Karzahni managed to cling onto the bottom of one of carracks and started tearing at the hull, pieces of being flung off. However, smaller, sturdier panel covered up any holes he made, and all the beetle robots were now having their attention straight at him.
