Cucumber Quest

Carrot needs a hug. And some flowers. And to be voted Prom Queen. His face in that last panel hurts my heart.

I think he needs a new vocation. The team could use a healer. I bet he'd be good at that.

I thought he was supposed to be the party tank, or something. His defense seems rather high.

Hey, don't knock Clerics. Healing and tanking together is a great job.

And has the side effect of being the ultimate stall. Barely able to do damage to them and they can heal themselves? Have fun.

I wasn't knocking clerics though, I was just taking note that maybe it would be a better vocation for Carrot because he's clearly not cut out for this knight stuff.

In Carrot's defense, he couldn't do anything about the situation, spear or no spear.

@xanderiskander: Yeah, I suppose that counts. However, I kinda get the feeling that sooner or later, she might end up admitting that she didn't know just how terrifying a saving-the-world quest could potentially be. Up until Cucumber's family quite literally kicked him out of the house, all Almond had seen of adventures was that Punisher Pumice TV show.

Oh gee Almond, underwater-fighting a giant squid or falling from the sky was totally safe, wasn't it?

I'm thinking a deconstruction of Peridot's "heroics" is imminent.

Also, I wonder if by "folly", NK is referring to Cucumber trying to lock him up for good?

I'm finding it hard to conjure sympathy for Almond right now.

I can understand why I should, but I'd mostly want to tell her that if she never learns to pause and think this is just going to keep happening. Yelling at someone else for something that's entirely your fault isn't going to help.

Then again she did almost die so being a bit upset is expected.

Also, remember that she has little reason to think that NK won't just turn right around and splat Cucumber if he follows. She's upset because from her perspective it looks like he's just flying into a big shadowy bug-zapper.

But bug zappers aren't dark.

Almond doesn't really have a reason to go off script either. Aside from this happening 100 times, she doesn't have a reason to suspect that something's wrong with the whole thing.

Have I mentioned that Almond looks really pretty in that outfit? Because she does.

And I notice that Nightmare Knight failed to deliver the letter to Sir Carrot. So, dangling plot hook?

Clearly, NK is trying to get back into the swing of being evil, and he thought taking the letter and not delivering it would be a good place to start.

That's a little petty for him. Your heart is clearly not in being evil anymore when you get that petty.
