That would've been better when I still had the Scooby Doo gang, but I deleted them to make room for others. I also had Ash Ketchum, Misty, Brock, the Lucky Charms leprechaun, and a few others. The only character I've got now is Dr. Manhattan, and that's hardly impressive.
this place needs me hereI remember that I made a large number of OCs designing them in V's CaS.
I just kept plowing through arcade mode and Quick Battle as a cute furry, mainly a deer girl who I got inspired to make after I saw a Quick Battle opponent with a deer head. Got a bit weird with the whole armor destruction thing, though, when they were suddenly missing their head.
Later on, I used it as a tool to design characters for my novel. I always have trouble thinking of characters' appearances, so it helps to have an in-depth visual like this offers.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerA long time ago, I'd thought of two ninja characters. One (older female) wielded the "Katana and Shuriken" discipline, while the other (young male) would use a single tanto and several (infinite) small shuriken. They were somewhat inspired by Sango and Kohaku. The former wound up becoming my take on Chienote . With the latter, I took "right-handed small blade and left-handed projectile" and turned it into Bangoonote .
Still, the thought remains that I'd like a character to be the child of Chie and Li Long, and pupil of Taki whether or not that person is a rebooted and actually developed Natsu, but for simplicity's sake let's say they're the same person. First, I was thinking that one could easily combine their movesets by making their weapon a single, single-bladed "nunchaku" like Li Long's, but with a tanto-length blade that is generally the end being held for safety's sake. Effectively, it'd move similar to at Balisong/Butterfly Knife. Throw in some short-range teleporation moves learned from Chie, and everyone is represented. Also, I could see the reuse of the disposable small shuriken projectiles idea.
Finally, I got to thinking of what the character would wear. Red is too explicitly Taki-inspired. Wearing orange inspired by Li Long's outfit or Chie's kimono (that I would use as inspiration for a 2P costume, makes them resemble Naruto too much. So, I thought, dark blue, with white armor. That would be inspired by Taki's 2P outfits in II and III, and with a bit of the Chie outfit I'd designed. Of course, that to my surprise makes it similar in scheme to Natsu's 2P costume◊.
This video contains three things:
- The stage I'd like for my Author Avatar character (and that I haven't found in other videos)
- Part of the moveset I'd like for Chie
- KOS-MOS
So you've come!... for COTS cutscenes!

The sad, REAL American dichotomyIn my opinion, I don't like all of the crazy characters in Quick Battle. They all look and sound retarded. I get that the Soul Series isn't known for its realism, but something's wrong when Ezio is fighting some Furry/Anthro thing with a staff and a voice that sounds like Mickey Mouse got shanked in the throat.

"Marth likes just the tip, Lucina likes the whole thing."That's just because most of the quick battle characters are horribly designed. It's like the customizations you see in Tekken Tag Tournament 2's Ghost mode. There's no rhyme or reason to them, they're just chugged out.

this place needs me hereGreat, now I'm imagining Dave Chappelle's hilarious evil Mickey Mouse.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIdk they looked so silly it kind of makes me laugh. Elle gave me a good chuckle 1st time I fought her in SC 4.
It's annoying if it's in like every single player mode but in say survival or something it's fine.

Aye, that's one of the little issues with Tekken Tag 2, even when going through Arcade mode with the miniature cutscenes for bosses and whatnot, they've got silly-ass customizations that ruin whatever effect those cutscenes were supposed to have.
this place needs me hereYeah, I tend to keep even my more out-there cases with the non- or barely-transposed voices. They really should've made more vocal options available... like what happened to the SC3 and SC4 custom voices, for one thing?

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerThe 3 Custom voices were kinda bleh, as they were determined by the outfit you are wearing, and what "alignment" they put the character. So it was pretty much possible to get stuck with a ill fitting voice set because you used the wrong combination of edit parts.
I am pretty sure 5 had something like 4's version? Shrug. Maybe I am misunderstanding you.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.The recording quality of 3's voices probably didn't fit with 4 or 5's, but I don't see why 5 couldn't have used 4's. At least, I don't think it did.
By the way, Lost Swords available in North America now. Wasn't working properly yesterday though.

this place needs me hereEh, the voices on my characters in 3 worked out pretty well. I would've liked more options, though.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI had to play around with Ganondorf's underwear to actually give him a non-happy-sounding voice while still making him look like himself.
Yes, I'm completely aware of how that sounded.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerHow Not to do Character Customization. Bet whoever came up with that was British.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyFor all we know, Ganondorf wears tiny pink thongs.
The sad, REAL American dichotomySoul Calibur V is only $5 on PSN this week as part of their Golden Week sale. Is it worth getting? I know it was pretty divisive.
Yeah, worth getting. It's thin on single-player stuff compared to the other games of the franchise, but what is there is mostly not bad (the poo poo doo-doo story mode notwithstanding).
Plus, it's got the best character creator/customizer of the series yet (though it could still do to recall some things from III) if you like that sort of thing.
this place needs me hereGet it and make Groose in the Custom Character creation.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! When Groose enters the tale of Souls and Swords, Alfonzo is in charge of falling from the sky!
Honestly, in deciding if you want to buy the game, you've got to wonder what you're trying to get out of it. If it's a character creation simulator, then probably. If it's an extension of the Soul Calibur story, then probably not.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyHonestly, I just like fighting games, despite being terrible at them. So it's the fact that it's only $5 that's drawing me to it, since it's very little investment for something I'm not going to be very good at.
Roster size and character diversity are probably the things that matter most to me.
It's got a decently-sized roster, and can be pretty fun to play (although I don't like the Super Meter they added). Not too complicated, there's just not a lot you can do single-player after beating all the quick battles, the hour-and-a-half-max long terrible story mode, and the Fight a Couple of Challenging Goons mode. Just arcade—which has no story or endings of any sort.
You could turn to online then, but I'm not sure how many people are still playing. Doubtless this sale will bring a small boost in players though. Just be wary of combo happy players that know tons of setups.
this place needs me hereThere's no way I will be playing online. I rarely-to-never play games online as a general policy anyway, let alone ones I'm not good at. :P
I'm assuming there's a practice mode, right? Honestly, most of my time in fighting games is spent in practice modes just noodling around with different characters.
Yeah, there's a decent practice mode.
this place needs me here
Thinking of trying another one, for clones of characters from other works, but I dunno. :|
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, baby
