The pic doesn't even remotely represent the trope in any clear way, except for the chess metaphor.

As far as a replacement...I dunno how we're gonna do this, unless someone can come up with a flow chart like on Xanatos Gambit, except which details ways to account for hiccups in a plan.

That's not really this trope. It would have to be something like a guy is making a plan, told something isn't working, and the guy adjusts the plan.

I like it. As far as the pic goes, it shows that he's not controlling the flow of events. That said, I'm always up for something better.

Agree with pull. Much as I like Sluggy Freelance, neither the image nor Bunbun himself are an example of the trope.

I'm afraid I don't have any better ideas, though.
