Nice idea, but is there a better picture of her smiling? I doubt that one would be clear shrunk down.
Yeah, the "Icy" side is admittedly pretty difficult to capture.
I find the need for a before/after image kinda dumb. So what, a mugshot of someone being serious then smiling is supposed to illustrate something? People don't have multiple emotions where you from?
"Look. Person X is stoic here, but smiling there! clearly an example of Defrosting Ice Queen and not, say, a normal person having two different moods at two different times."

I was about to post the same thing. Yeah, those are not good pics.
I was thinking I'd try and grab that illustration from How The Grinch Stole Christmas where his heart grows three sizes, but it turns out it's not an actual illustration from the book, and it was only in the animated version, which I don't have.

Rhymes with "Protracted."I see the point but doesn't that border on the "red paint" defense? At least, yeah, the caption needs to clarify that each image represents a change in a character's general disposition and not mood swings.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. No, the point is "What are you trying to illustrate". Showing someone with two different emotions on their face isn't illustrating this trope. It's illustrating someone with two emotions at different dates.
It can be both depends on how it's handled. The fact that it can be interpreted in different ways when handled poorly shouldn't disqualify an entire approach.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Let's use the Grinch. Better known than the other examples, and there's even ice in the first picture.

He's not an "Ice Queen", just a jerk. His is just a case of Heel–Face Turn.
Ice Queens can be male, and many are jerkass. Is there anything specific you think disqualifies him from being an Ice Queen?
The Laconic of Ice Queen: I'm frigid and I'm NOT interested.
Doesn't apply to the Grinch at all.
This is why I hate laconics. It's clear from reading the trope page that whoever wrote that laconic didn't actually read the trope definition. Romance is not required for an Ice Queen, nor is actually being frigid. They character can just be an emotionally stunted jerk. The actual trope page said as much.
The laconic is just flat out wrong.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI changed it to "A character cold in manner and demeanor."
Also, am I the only one who sees the tabs being strangely highlighted?
Nope. I'd love to have shots showing the Grinch's heart growing, but barring that it should probably be him stealing everthing and then stopping the sleigh from going off the cliff.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanClock is set.
Wow, wait a minute. Ice Queen is Always Female.
Don't ask me why, but she is. Just like Tomboy is Always Female.
Ah, but Defrosting Ice Queen is a plot trope masquerading as a character trope. And the plot is not gender specific... that's annoying.
