I was boring, I always made a medium weight mech that was leaning towards the lighter side. Dual machine guns, some good tracking missiles and a light sniper cannon.
Oh really when?Haven't played enough to establish a favorite build yet. Medium machine gun was how I started too, though I eventually found that a hover chassis is more my speed.
I eventually want to find a good laser rifle/blade biped; my attempts so far were less than spectacular. Energy problems.
Last Raven was my favriote.
It was one of the last where I could use my favriote builds...

I just want another one already. I'm without my PS 2 and 360 so now I've got no way to play any Armored Core.
I'm seriously hoping Armored Souls becomes a real thing.
Oh really when?Marq, are you familiar with an old PC game called Metal Fatigue? It's basically the RTS equivalent of Armored Core.
Might help you with ideas for your fanfic.
re [Armored Core 6: today gamespot published an interview with Miyazaki and there's a peculiar statement in there:
I wonder what are the "barriers" he's referring to...
Cost maybe? Or maybe it's a market thing.
I know V and Verdict Day kinda tanked in the West since it's such a niche franchise over here.

Oh really when?V and VD kinda sucked any way. >.>
I never actually played Verdict Day.
I kinda wanted to enjoy V because I like the slower, smaller, and sturdier mechs more than the speedy flighty things in For Answer but the game just felt kinda meh.
Plus I couldn't use any of the online features since there were maybe five other people in America that bought the game.

Oh really when?The online sucked.
The maps were smaller.
The slow paced combat was meh.
A good chunk of combat options were removed, where are my missile boats. D:
Overall it was bad, and VD was not any better.
I did like the new style mechs though.
I like the shorter and sturdier looking mechs. I like gameplay that's slower and less focused on flight and zipping around but V was just too slow.
I also want weapons and impacts to have proper weight. Everything feels like their not there and bullet impacts feel like little puffballs that just subtract numbers from your health counter.
Oh really when?Might help you with ideas for your fanfic.
Did some messing around with AC 3 yesterday.
Damn those ammo bills... I actually finished a mission with a negative balance. I had to pull an arm and a leg to equip that quad missile launcher and it almost bankrupted me to actually fire it. The repair bill didn't help either: I equipped both the ECM pod dispenser and the ECM OP part, and neither did squat. Missiles are too expensive, rifles don't do enough damage, I can't hit shit with blades... what the hell am I supposed to use?! >:(
You know it's bad when there are two optional targets on the mission, worth 6000 each, I destroyed only one of them and STILL ended up about 3000 into the negative. Fuck you Kisaragi, you're literally not paying me enough to massacre civilians.
And people wonder why I prefer to stick to more conventional armaments in that game for missions. At least in the Arena I don't have to worry about expenses.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. So you've played 3, I presume?
Do I get to keep my stuff once all missions are done? Or do I have to start over with nothing?
Yeah, I finished AC3. And yes, you get to keep everything, as well as replay all of the missions and improve your score while you're at it (I think the in-universe justification is that they're computer simulations of said missions, mainly for self-training purposes).
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.... Three games at the same time?! O_o
<reads> Oh. The studio is working on three new games, but only one of them is an Armored Core game. Yeesh, don't confuse me like that!

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Still something to cheer about!
Oh wow, sorry. I got blindsided by the flashy youtube video they put on it and misread. But still! Our day is coming!
The only time I spammed Kojima missiles was the last mission in the Destruction path of ACFA. On the normal difficulty anyways - on hard you'd run out of missiles, so I instead stripped off all my weapons except a pair of laser swords and built an infinite overboost mech.
Then I just jousted with them all.
My normal build was a missileboat anyways, though - but normal missiles, not kojima.
