I'm fiddling ith a story Idea, and I jsut dunno if it's too many elements at once. I'm just gonna dump what i have.

The reader learns at the beginning that there are two forces fighting for the fate of this town—the full moon and the sliver moon. The sliver moon is protected by the crescent moon—the full moon chooses her own protector, her childhood friend Dimitri. The two moon foci have specific powers. The full moon can create moon mirages, and always know when someone is lying to her. The sliver moon can shield and protect with shadow and light. Both protectors are given mystical weapons that cut though the other's powers—full moons protector can banish the shields, sliver moon protector can cut through the mirages.

The reader discovers at some point earlyish that the goal of the sliver is to corrupt the full moon. Loon, the full moon has no idea who the Sliver is...the reader figures out mid-book that the sliver is the popular girl at school. Hr protector is also her boyfriend, the team captain, Cres. All nice and cliché so far.

The reader learns partway through the book that there is a council called constella, formed after the balance of power was drastically shifted in 1932. Darkness took over the land. The Council of Constella was formed after the full moon in the 1400's was corrupted and the balance of power was tipped, causing the black plague. There have been other councils over the centuries, this is simply the most recent. The council works only for balance—they are comprised of both former full moons and former slivers.

The reader find out during a battle against the sliver and the crescent, that Dimitri can cast shields but only over himself. The reader assumes that this is because his loyalties are changing—he is drawn to crescent because crescent is popular and Basketball team captain. Dimitri does not want to betray ooo, bu the battles are hard and scary. He wants life to be easy.

Some stuff happens? I dunno what, yet. Loon battles for Dimitri, trying to win him over to her side. Melodrama highschool stuff.

The reader discovers, in what I hope is a nice little twist, that there is a fourth focus—the new moon.

The new moon is the potential of light and dark. All along when you thought this book was a battle for Loon, it was actually a battle for Dimitri, to choose light, reflect Loon's light back and save his town.

It's slightly complicated, but only because it is compact into a few paragraphs of description. If this is going to be a long book, it would be fine. Cliche? I can't tell.

Sounds like a good story. I find it interesting and not difficult to understand in my personal opinion, so you don't need to worry about it being overcomplicated. While parts of the story have been used before, I wouldn't call it all cliche; remember that Tropes Are Not Bad.

Then again this is only my humble opinion, others might not think the same way.

...It sounds pretty interesting, actually. The general premise doesn't feel like a cliche to me at all.

It sounds like a book I would read. What medium will you be using?

[up]It's funny you should ask that Chihuahua. I think because i am binging on Fruitsbasket lately, I keep seeing scenes laid out like a manga. Likely though, it will be a novel(la?) since I have very little drawing talent, and my interests lie mostly in prose.

thanks everyone for your encouragement. I guess I'll get cracking.
