I don't even think it really takes mental impairment, someone might just decide enough is enough and waste him. Wouldn't be that difficult to do it without being caught.

The beatings seem so unnecessary. They had it coming though. Well-played, Mississippi, if a little heavy-handed.

I'm not sure I'd even be satisfied if he suddenly had a grinch-stole-christmas-esque change of heart. I'd still want to put a bullet in that heart.
And Barkey's target grew three sizes that day!

If we start making exceptions to the "violence against non-violent protestors is wrong" rule, how do we know these exceptions won't be subject to the hypocrisy of popular opinion?

No, we need to stay within the law in our dealings with these people, even if their words are offensive to most.

We should beat them with spectacular trolling moves like Mississippi did, yeah, but at the same time...

Can't say I'd vote to convict a man who gunned down all the WBC with gun.

Cant someone in the government tamper with some birth records and make them illegal immigrants who by law, have to be deported?

A) No.

B) You'd have to bribe a country to take them.

@Thorn They can't deport most of the ones that are actually here illegally, so that won't do much good.

I know, I wasn't really being serious.

Still, there needs to be some loophole to at least make these aholes to shut up.

No you don't, that's what international waters are for.

I'm not going to start a war with Aquaman.

That would make a really good comic storyline and/or cartoon. Just sayin'.

Also, I seem to recall Aquaman being something of a dick, so he'd probably just harpoon them all and call it even anyway.

I am not particularly happy about all of that.

The WBC are offensive idiots, obviously; but that does not mean that people get to beat them up, or that a representative of the law gets to turn a blind eye when they are attacked, and definitely not that a representative of the law gets to temporarily detain them because of some obviously bogus investigation.

The thing about the rule of the law is that it applies to everyone. Everyone, no matter how unsympathetic or hated or unworthy.

Actually, the fact that the WBC is allowed to operate relatively undisturbed was one of the things that fill me of admiration towards the U.S.: that a group as small, loud and (rightfully) universally disliked was not harassed in the least was something that spoke very highly of the level of civility that the United States had achieved, despite my many and sometimes vocal objections to some of its policies*

I get that the people who harassed the WBC had good intentions, and I get that the WBC people are assholes; but still, I hope that the culprits are arrested and subjected to the lawfully mandated penalties.

You see, the trick is, most of those things done to the WBC weren't illegal, just seriously inconvenient. Much like their protests are never illegal, just really rude.

It's just treating them to the same "dancing on the edge of legality" shit they are pulling in the first place.

Look, you can't make me speak in a logical, coherent, intelligent bananna.

^ This is the crux of it. If they're going to be assholes and say "You can't keep us from doing this because it's not illegal!", they need to deal with the fact that other people may just decide to be dicks to them, in a completely not illegal way as well. They guys who actually did the beating went too far — battery is illegal. But the people who didn't provide descriptions didn't necessarily do anything illegal. The people who parked vehicles to pin the WBC cars in the parking lot didn't do anything illegal. The cops didn't do anything illegal by not jumping to tow those vehicles immediately. The cops who brought some of the WBC people in for questioning about some other matter altogether may or may not have done something illegal — but all it would take would be that there was a call to Crimestoppers (or the equivalent tip hotline) to make it "not illegal" again.

Yeah, that's what they tell you. What they don't tell you is that sometimes nothing makes a right, and a second wrong is the better choice.

[up][up]That's a dangerous path to go down.

Especially when it's the police.

[up] Hence there's no reason to corrupt yourself for them. Just ignore them.

Though it'd be nice if we stopped the wars for completely unrelated reasons.
