Montana, actually.
What do we need so much lumber for? We build stuff with steel and concrete now.
Quite the biased article there.
However I have one question which it doesn't answer: What kind of logging is it mandating? Clearcutting? Fire-danger removal? Selective thinning?
Not all logging is condemn-worthy.
Clear-cutting, it seems.
EDIT: And subsidizing it with tax-payer money.

Tinyurl required.
Fight smart, not fair.Do these people not realize that trees produce oxygen?
Just wait til we run out of air. That'll show 'em.
Under World. It rocks!Boo subsidies.
Fight smart, not fair.To be fair, most of the oxygen comes from phytoplankton. Still, you know, heavy deforestation is bad.
You'd think we have learned that lesson decades ago.
Human is a pretty slow creature compared to other animals's learning capability. Ever have seen how long it takes for a calf or deer to walk, even comparing ourselves as four-leggeds? Extend that to "abstract concepts"...

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.that's also partially biology. They have to come out of the womb ready to walk. Human babies come out much less developed in the leg area. Though they do come out with some pretty powerful natural instincts.
Stick your finger across a baby's palm.
And we use a lot of wood in construction still, not to mention furnishings. Logging isn't bad in itself. It can be done badly, but that's not the same thing.

Did you compare a baboon to a deer?
Fight smart, not fair.Tom's statement seemed to be painting all non-human species with the same stripe, so I felt it a reasonable counterpoint.
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.
Words fail me.
..oh well it's just Alaska, who cares about them amirite?
