I agree that this image could be better.
Keeping a similar colour palette and theme, I would suggest something from a scene in Equilibrium where the protagonist is coldheartedly shooting Mooks. 1:57 here is okay.
It would be better if it was easy to show him demonstratively protecting something he loves, but showing both the "bad guys" and the "good guy" wearing such similar outfits while the protagonist is doing the shooting might be able to cut it with a bit of a caption.
I call forth Unlimited Stories! The link doesn't work. Try Anti-Hero instead. Also, I think the current image works. I have no idea who that guy is, but he looks like a stereotypical antihero to me.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.At the very least, it subverts Does Not Like Guns.
There might be room for improvement, but that would still leave the question of what kind of image we should be going for.
This should have the character in question making a statement or thought that establishes or lampshades his/her status as an Anti-Hero, or one character doing this about another.
I have to agree that the current image just doesn't work. A key part of the anti-hero trope is that the character, despite having a broken moral compass, is, well, a hero, or at has good intentions, if not actions. The current picture is just a guy with guns. In the rain. Looking angry. With a skull on his shirt. It doesn't show the trope at all.

... perhaps something of Batman might be a little better, but I'm still not quite sure what. Perhaps the one currently on Good Is Not Nice could be shifted over?
EDIT: Or alternatively, this.◊

That pic is being considered for use in another trope's IP discussion but I can't remember which.
Tears of Fear. Not a great candidate for that trope IMO, so feel free to use it here.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Maybe if we just take the center panel of the Batman image? Otherwise, it'll probably be too small.

Either one looks good.
I like the single-panel one a lot.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Things that may or may not be relevant:
1) I assume we're cool that Batman's appropriateness as an anti-hero is very much Depending on the Writer?
2) Do we care that his even considering handling a gun marks this as an Out-of-Character Moment (or, at the very least, another Depending on the Writer)?
I think that's an alternate-universe Batman...could be wrong.
The single panel one of Batman is great.
The problem with the current picture is that it isn't even clear who the person is, they could just as easily be the villain of their given story, and the only thing we have that helps us assume they're the hero of their given story is that they're on the Anti-hero page.
It could easily be and out of character moment, but it helps that its Batman, who we know is supposed to be heroic.
Edit: Eh.Its The Punisher. I know who he is, but we need to see him actually being an Anti-Hero instead of just standing the rain looking like a Badass.

It was either a penguin or a panda, but the choice is far less black and white than you would think!Well the caption i give him was good as for the image its kind of the hard part
Darkness is The Power of LifeThe single-panel picture is great.
I like it too. Is there enough support for it to put it up?
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things. No one seems to be objecting. Put it up, then?
It's up, potholed, and tagged. Now, given Batman's normal Does Not Like Guns status, we need to caption it in a way that highlights/lampshades how OOC this is for him. IIRC, that's an alternate universe Batman, so we could point that out somehow.
Look at the image on the page. It's a guy standing in the rain with guns. What am I supposed to gather from this? Does the guy like standing in the rain?
Point is, I'm accusing the current pic of being just a face and that's it.
