Gantas’ reaction to Shiro taking the chip has bugged me somewhat since I first read it in the manga. The others acting that way is understandable as Shiro is just some random weird girl to them but Ganta has known her longer than that. Episode 10 was very good and shows why Shinji is one of my favourite characters from the series.

On another note though I did think that Mockingbird looked a lot more feminine then he does in the manga, the vice doesn’t help either.

Did the animation for Ep 11 seem off to anyone else?

[up]It did seem a bit off in places but I have seen far worse before.

Oh, and it looks like everyone's fucked now.

I wish people in this show would look where they're going.

I found it really odd how Ganta's collar thing would beep for a little bit, stop, and then start again whenever things were getting tense.

The resolution of the Owl thing was strange too; it seemed like they didn't really have to do much to bring him back to normal....and then there was the Karako/Owl scene, which was supposed to be touching, but instead I just kept thinking, "He's right there, you guys. Genkaku is RIGHT THERE. TURN AROUND. HE'S GOING TO KILL YOU." Also, I usually like it when we learn more about characters and their motivations, but in this case I wish they had spent the time explaining Genkaku's backstory on something else instead. I wouldn't have minded if this were a 2-cour show, but since this was the last episode...

There are so many unanswered questions, though....time to read the manga or wait for a sequel, I guess.

I figured Ganta would have stopped the poison by removing the infected blood, but his use of the Branches of Sin didn't seem to match the beeping.

Well, the show ended EXACTLY where I thought it would. I knew that if they wanted to do a second season and follow the plot of the manga closely, there was only one place they could end it. After this, most of the major events lead into each other like dominoes, and there's no other option but to follow it to the end.

I think it's safe to say there WILL be a second season, and it'll most likely be longer. I don't think you can do the entire rest of the manga in twelve episodes.

Wait, when did I get a manga blog?

Just watched the final episode and it went pretty much as I expected. There was another, admittedly minor, Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole the Wretched Egg/Red Man manifesting while the Mother Goose System is still operational but other than that it was fairly good.

I am not sure what will happen with a second season as they have written out half the characters who are involved in the next arc. I suppose it depends on what the coming OVA covers.

Finally got around to watching the "final" episode.

You know, those undertaker Elite Mooks got Henchman Decay faster and more severely than the Sentinels and the Z-Putties combined. I mean when they where first introduced they where borderline Hero Killer status thanks to the fact that they gunned and cut down a dozen deadmen at once. And then they got started dying once Crow got involved. After that they get slaughtered consistently and now by the end of it literally just stand around and wait to get killed.

Anyways, tons of questions unanswered. Diabolus ex Machina due to a brief Idiot Ball moment and aversion of Talking Is a Free Action. Genkaku's a dick. Mockingbird's also a dick. Was Hibana killed there? I guess they weren't allowed to show much given her age, but that was really ambiguous. Poor girl.

Now i'm gonna have to watch some Fairy Tail to cleanse the pallet of all that gore.

Yeah, I think Hibana bought it. That was a lot of blood. Unless being sliced to bits by a supersonic blade, like being impaled through the chest by a katana, is simply an incapacitating, non-lethal injury in this setting.

The OVA is out showing Shinji's past as a cop How many of these are there going to be because the ending left things open for more

I'm bumping this because Funimation's English dub premieres on Toonami tonight.

I've seen some people complain about it trying too hard to be gritty, but to me it has a certain self-awareness to how over the top it is; it sorta reminds me of Black Lagoon.

Well I doubt a show that has someone holding a hostage because he wants candy and being asked if today was a nice day is supposed to be taken dead seriously. It is an interesting and twisted anime, and it seems like a good way to kick off Toonami.

I hope this gets released on DVD, not just because I'll finally be able to watch the rest of it, but to hear it uncensored.

[up][up]Episodes

[up]As far as I can tell the DVD release was planned before the televised version.

Speaking of uncensored, I can't tell if Ganta said "can suck my cock" or "can suck my dick" at the end of the episode. Sounded more like the latter, but he just said that exact same word uncensored like one sentence before that.

I have a question, who's the VA for the main criminal in the latest episode? It just feels like I've heard him somewhere else before but I can't put my finger on it.

Also I think the dubbing for this in general has been really good so far, Funi's gotten really good at natural sounding dubs.

ANN lists someone who is either a newbie or someone using an alias. Considering what he said about Makina (the director's being a tease about what got the long beep), probably the latter.

We do have Rei's VA confirmed though — Lydia Mackay.

Here are Toonami's latest ratings: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/06/13-1/toonami-anime-block-ratings-improve-in-week-2

From what I can see, Deadman Wonderland is right behind Bleach as their most popular show of the night and it wins the timeslot for adults 18-24 and men 18-34. Judging from how poorly it did in Japan and how much of a bargain it has become for Adult Swim, I say it's an example of Germans Love David Hasselhoff. Should I add it as such?
