Hello again! Back from vacation.

Also, my future arc plans:

Kanjoh

  • Fortis takes the Johto Gym Challenge, possibly along with one of her siblings.
  • Fortis will meet Matthew (the red-haired boy she met in the Underground) again, and battle him.
  • Forte's evil counterpart will be properly introduced.
  • Possibly some Lily stuff?
  • Pianis will meet Ammy and have an epic freakout when he finds out who her mom is.
  • CO plot with Rex, possibly time-shenaniganned as I don't want Forte to suffer from losing another mon after he's reunited with Shadow.

RtAU

  • The reveal of whether AU!Fortis is alive or dead.
  • Depending on what Every does, possibly AU!Mezzo reuniting with him (on Sunny's insistence) and giving birth to a Purrloinsparce.

Conquest

  • Ancestor!Mezzo shows up in Yaksha and works for the warlord there? Don't have much planned here yet.

Holon

  • Possibly introducing a Fire type delta Purrloin, for more Sonic references. I'm torn on this one because I don't want the Holon arc to only be about delta mons.

Crow: I've created a topic for assimilating all of our plans for future arcs (Conquest included, of course) here.

This signature is empty. Nothing to see here.

On future plans

I can't use the secondary forum ATM, so I'll post them here for now:

Rt AU

  • AU!Umbra, Lina, and teams will be doing their part to fight the Dragons, but they won't be my main focus. That is instead on...

  • ...AU!Alduin, Seishirou, and Fuuma, the latter two of which will be punted to the OU (with an extra-strict version of The Vow slapped on them) at the end of the arc.

PEFE Exploration

  • Not sure yet, since disturbingly little has been planned for this, our next arc. Mabye some stuff I couldn't do in Kanjoh will be done here?

  • Should I also have Lina pretend to be a supervillain as an elaborate prank on Umbra and Ammy, or save that for Unova 2/later?

Conquest

  • Have Past!Umbra be an EVIL OVERLORD, with Past!Lina as his nemesis that never actually meets him. Will explain why Umbra lived in isolation for so long, and why Lina wandered the world for just as long.

  • Ammy will travel back in time with Issun, become a White Arcanine, and go through a massive Okami homage that is really part of Past!Umbra's master plan.

Holon

  • Very little idea ATM, but if concurrent with Conquest will likely involve Umbra and Lina searching for Ammy while her team deals with her being missing (perhaps with Nyuki or Sickle as temporary team leader).

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Let me know!

In the chat, I brought up an idea that might make Luke more accepting of the RP, hopefully without making anyone else want to leave due to "uncommon interests".

Perhaps we should start making more prominent "slice of life" plots concurrent to the more major stuff. I specifically say "more prominent" because, from what I've seen in the 4410 pages of the RP I've read, all previous attempts at "normal" Trainer stuff have been either drowned out by or abandoned in favour of the "saving the world" type stuff.

In fact, PMD-R really could have used it. Before you accuse me of bashing on the arc, hear me out. Perhaps you remember, me and a few others went back to the OU a couple times to do "normal" stuff. And they got abandoned because, well, absolutely nothing else was happening there. Perhaps people wouldn't be bashing on the arc itself if the normal, OU stuff hadn't been virtually forgotten.

Back to the main point.

The RP could really use some normal stuff to dilute the, in Luke's choice of wording, "epic" stuff. It would really help avoid future Arc Fatigue and the like, as well as avoiding conflicts about what the RP consists of - the two things that drove Luke away.

And in case you're wondering, no, Kanjoh doesn't count. Kanjoh is a Breather Arc. In fact, perhaps taking the "concurrent slice of life" idea could help avoid the need for Breather Arcs in the future.

If anyone has any concerns, suggestions, etc., please give them.

We tried that with Kanjoh-1 (run concurrently to IK) and it didn't really work out. Specifically, the people on the slice of life side didn't know what to do.

That's somewhat of a problem. How much planning for the Kanjoh side was done?

The problem is that planning slice of life...doesn't really work. Overplanning is a thing (the AU suffered for it, IMO), and when the point is to do everyday stuff...planning it is pretty much the same as doing it, you know?

Never mind what I said about the planning, then. It got clarified in the chat that the problem was more due to availability issues and, in Silent's words, "most players were waiting for plot to be served to them, while [he] explicitly designed the arc with the premise of leaving hooks open that players could explore"... which is precisely what we need to do correctly in the future.

Like you said, slice of life doesn't - and shouldn't - have an overarching plot, so one half freedom paired with one half direction could really help avoid these problems in the future, once we get the hang of the structure.

Here's the thing...

One of the main complaints, from my perspective at least, is that not enough people do it instead of whatever "epic" plot is going on at the time.

The thing is, unless you're going to force people to do So L stuff over the other stuff (which I am thoroughly against), then you can't really change that. And the thing it seems to me is that people keep overlooking the fact that if people don't want to do So L, So L won't happen.

Which leaves us with something of a lose-lose situation; it's not fair to the people that want to do So L to be overshadowed by a bigger plot, but it's also not fair to the people that don't want to do So L to be forced to do it.

The only solution I can suggest is maybe making a spin-off of sorts, a thread that's always So L or something, and keep the main thread as is.

Just the way I see it. Correct me if I've misunderstood something.

First off, read this. Then we need to know:

  • Your character's name
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Brief description of his/her appearance
  • Any ties to an organization(i.e Pokemon Rangers, Team Rocket, Iternational Police, etc)
  • Region of origin
  • Backstory
  • And obviously, what his/her mons are. Anything goes, as long as you don't have any legendaries.

And...I think that's it. We also have chatrooms located here. Creative is for the RP, Social is for hangout.

Hey, Sixth! How did it go with your reading?

I'm doing this as a form as it helps me organise everything. Also, haven't played any Pokemon games in at least a year Right, let's see... Name: Dr Lewis Smith

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Brief description of his/her appearance: Short, light brown hair, pale skin, dark jeans, black sneakers, a black shirt with a white spiral in the centre, a black jacket, and a black fedoratrilby.

Any ties to an organization: Not really, although does have his own, small business as a Pokemon Psychiatrist/Psycologist

Region of origin: Sinnoh, in Jubilife City

Backstory: Born to fairly average parents in Jubilife, nothing of particular oddity happened in Lewis' life until his graduation 2 years ago. Having studied Pokemon Psycology, he spent half a year as a Pokemon trainer, collecting 6 of the 8 badges in Sinnoh, before deciding that he didn't actually want to do it. He released most of his Pokemon, and set up shop in Canalave City, as a Pokemon Psychiatrist. Worst. Decision. Ever.

Pokemons: A mid-level Grotle and a low level Starly. Neither have nicknames.

There ya go! Hope it's up to standard.

A psychiatrist? I like. Though since you live in Sinnoh you need to find a reason to be in Kanto or Johto where most of us are now. The chat, if you can acess it, will help you get oriented.

The SS Aqua makes trips to Sinnoh apparently, so you could have your character decide to take a trip down there using it for X reason.
