So I got these in the mail today from Tracer, Tangent, and Apikale:
- From Tracer, a copy of FE Fates Conquest◊
- From Tangent and Apikale, a Blooper plushie◊, and honey from the latter's hives◊
I wouldn't mind Ludmilla getting a surprise team member~ Figured it'd be nice for her to get a team member that I don't have to base off of a Pokemon I caught in-game.
ooh, nice @ Tagg
off the shitsReminder that since we don't want any repeats of last Christmas, to wait until at least the 27th before making any announcements in Discussion that could possibly be controversial.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Tagg: Thank you. Would a spoiler-dependant character count as controversial? Namely involving being member of the Ultra Recon Squad or at least associated?
On a lighter note, Sheepily did a character Christmas card for a Discord server we share and Jean made the bottom left!◊

"Dang that sure is totally poggers my good bitch"All right, so now that the (at least pre-release material) spoilerblock is done, we inevitably have a bit of stuff worth discussing, but the first thing I want to bring up is a couple of things for future arc ideas that don't necessarily have to be attached to any other USUM info — that being, a Rainbow Rocket arc, and as a result, the introduction of...
J-DAN: Those Who Fight Monsters
In the alternate universe they hail from, the division between J-Teamers in the aftermath of the Orre arc was even stronger than it already was in the OU. Out of regret for the VBT, de-facto J-Team leader RP!Tagg left for good. However, not everyone thought leaving such a bloody mark on Cipher should have been regretted, and Sarah — an already grief-stricken individual — rallied up as much of the J-Team as she could to put an end to Cipher once and for all, using her super-empathic powers granted by her Heart of Gold to sway anyone who wasn't completely set in their morals one way or another.
After receiving the news about the brutal end of Cipher, Tagg and most of the other dissenters form a resistance. The two factions clash, and Sarah's faction spitefully renames themselves "J-Dan" — where "dan" (団) refers to a gang or organization, particularly mirroring the use of the suffix in the Japanese names of the various villain teams that make the antagonists of the main series Pokemon games.
I was thinking, Rainbow Rocket could have an arc that is essentially an expanded version of their plot in-game (expanded, because the Delta Episode proved that a scene-for-scene reenactment is better suited for a much smaller group of authors rather than the RP as a whole), but with the addition of J-Dan's very own Sarah Amarin. And as well, her (and possibly some other members' appearances) could possibly be the prelude to an arc centered around J-Dan as a whole.
I don't want to get too deep in my own ideas before getting input on what I've said so far, so, what says everyone?

As I have mentioned previously I am 100% in favor of this and think it is awesome.
All are significantly abnormal in a normal world... All are significantly normal in an abnormal world.I've already given my general approval for this idea, and talked about it in the chats, and right now my only concern is scope. Making Rainbow Rocket and especially the J-Dan part antagonists or even arc/saga antagonists in the future, great! Masking them the main subject of an arc or worse saga, eeeeeeh, I'm not feeling it.
I think it's 1. not wanting to determine the next arc just yet, especially when we know zilch about G8 and what it's like and when it's dropping, and A. ...i dunno, i feel like making it this SUPER BIG THING could smother other plots? I approve of Rainbow Rocket and especially their J-Dan division harassing the J-Team after Mobius and Iron are done with, I just think it should be slightly more subdued n how we play it out. Slightly.

Contact Me!Oh, yeah, that's definitely understandable. It doesn't have to be as great a scope as my dramatization was making it out to be, that was just for the sake of grabbing attention for the idea. :P
On one hand that certainly sounds interesting, on the other hand... How many WAAPTers do we still have that were around for Orre/VBT? Probably enough to run a J-dan, especially since the main ones I can think of are all quite good at villains. But minor concern that it'll end up being 'J-team old guard mirror fight' and not really have much of anything for everyone else to do.
On the other hand, that's probably only a concern if that's the 'main' arc, and it's really more of a concern about execution than anything. And also I'm half asleep atm.
Blitz: The answer to that is probably to have J-Dan and Tagg's Resistance have aged just as much since the Orre Arc as the OU versions have, and either group have picked up a few familiar faces in the interim. Or, any other ideas anyone has.
That's basically how I saw it, In Spite of a Nail is a thing after all.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Silent D!Post in regards to J-Dan
As for your concern, that's totally understandable, which is why I phrased it as it was — it's not enthrallment, it's swaying those conflicted. Think of it as a Charisma check with Advantage. :P
And I would 100% be up for RP!Silent being the one to investigate Danverse!Ho-oh's death~
And I... think EX-branding would presumably remain and/or transfer to the next of the brander's line when eligible? I can't remember the exact details of Ammy's not-technically-an-EX-mon situation, but I think it's similar enough that we could look to that for precedence. Have to get Umbra's input (and a reminder on the details) for that.
(Also, people are free to add their character ideas onto the doc, it's edit-open for a reason :P)

I'm in support.
But in contrast to Umbra I'd prefer something like this to take center stage.
Sorry!
I'm done here.I share Zeal's opinion with this.
"If there is no way to win, I will simply force a way."Bitters, Silent: Ammy's case is not quite an EX Branding so much as an effective demigod(ess) status induced from being a Physical God for an extended period of time, so she's honestly more like Mew!Blitz (which reminds me they need to meet.) I don't think something like her thing could be passed on, but I think EX branding might.
Zeal, Verax: This is fair! My primary concern now that I've gotten sleep is that could interfere with a G8 arc and depending on how we handle it even miniarcs, but I'm willing to work out how this could be The Big Thing without stamping everything else out. (Plus if G8 gets delayed to 2019 we could probably go nuts with this.)
Contact Me!Generation 8 has never even been announced, has it?
I'm done here. We've had a core Pokemon RPG for Switch announced that's announced for 2018 or sooner and know that USUM is the last 3DS mainline Pokemon game, so . I guess if we're getting a new gen this year, we'll probably find out in February or something, based on the last two. Idk, maybe better to not treat its timing until stuff's announced more clearly, yeah.
"life is just a series of increasingly canon-eluding ao3 tags" ~ everydunsparce "Keep your hellfruit away from me, tempter" ~ also EveryNo, but from what I remember being discussed in the chat the worry is that Bitty wants to do this after Mobius/Team Iron are resolved, and so if it's a main arc it might bleed over into eventual G8 plans.
And yeah, that

All are significantly abnormal in a normal world... All are significantly normal in an abnormal world.Zeal: It hasn't, but there's a good likelyhood that it'll be announced early next year. If not, though, that will happen 2019 and Rainbow Rocket will be good to go for the next arc's focus.
Also what Crow and Izzy said.
