Sorry about the interruption, Psyche, but re: Keys pastebin, a couple things:
- I've already agreed with Silent in that Sarah probably shouldn't quite become a Frontier Brain yet, just a step closer if she does actually manage to win her last challenges.
- I would have made this clear here in Discussion yesterday, but I was kinda busy doing three huge projects that left me with zero time and zero energy to discuss anything at all and I couldn't even finish them until 4:00 this morning. I'm still very exhausted.
- I can't remember what my opinions a year and a half or so ago were, but right now my view is "hey, somebody could potentially do something like win all four Grand Festivals, assuming it was paced well and isn't an effortless sweep four times in a row". I'm very, very open to major accomplishments like that, and heck, I would have totally been open to RP!Silent having been the Champion of [Region in Suocéverse] if the idea were still relevant and pitched today. "Has an effect on the world" isn't necessarily a bad thing, keep in mind. And heck, given almost everyone else seems to be in support, I may very well suggest the "official Frontier Brain for real" thing again later on when a lot of time has passed.
- Keys, your attitude toward both your own ideas and mine seem very... all-or-nothing, I guess. Like, from how you've been presenting it, it's been "if Ren can't do all four Grand Festivals flawlessly and all in a row and perfectly, then fuck everything, there go all those plans" when from what I can tell, there's a lot of those plans that could have been salvaged and adjusted if you hadn't decided to abandon it all because things didn't go your way. Like, okay, let's say Ren did not only fail to sweep the Grand Festivals and lost to Diantha. Shit happens. It sucks. Huge emotional effect, et cetera. There's mountains of works of fiction in which characters work to re-inspire someone who's hit their lowest point. There's a lot of Pokemon anime episodes for that specific concept, for example. It's a heartwarming, inspiring thing, when it actually works out in the end, and afterwards, Ren can work even harder toward eventually accomplishing his goal no matter how many bumps occur along the way.
- I'm not the first one to say that the "you can't do X thing because I couldn't do Y thing" argument sounds... really childish. Which certainly wasn't helped by the stuff you said in the chat right when I'd made the D!Post about this idea.
