Descriptions are not counters to bad titles either.
I'll still be checking the wicks, though.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. But it's not a bad title at all. For the description of the trope, it's accurate.

I laugh in the face of suffering.Again, the description cannot shore up a name.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. But the name is also perfect.
I'll check for misuse tonight. If there is, the name is bad, no matter what you think of it.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Misuse =/= Bad name. It's a common cause, but not the only possible one.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyAnd how much misuse constitutes a bad name? Ten wicks out of a hundred? Five? One? People don't have perfect memories; someone can make a mistake as they're adding a trope to a work or an example to a trope.
I laugh in the face of suffering. When the description is good, then there aren't many other reasons.
Many mistakes over the same name, but them knowing what the name actually means, would be a really improbable event. Are you new to rename discussions?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I don't understand why you think misuse would have anything to do with the name. You're arguing that people are either confusing it for Foot Focus or trying too hard to find examples in that of this. I don't see how the name has anything to do with either of those problems.
It is not related. It doesn't matter how many misuses are happening, but the nature of those misuses.
If someone is, for example, confusing this for someone who literally does not like shoes (but wear them), then the misuse is related to the name, and a rename is called. However, if the misuse is of a completely different nature, then a rename would no solve anything and the misuses would continue.
Perhaps there's confusion over whether this is meant to be a character type at all?
It's a guideline that when the description of a trope is good, and that the misuse outside of the trope page is high enough (about a third if I'm not mistaken), then the name is to be considered problematic. It's just how the guideline works. Acting like you don't see how it can be caused by the name doesn't mean the name isn't a problem for others.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Sorry but the original post was talking about people noting any old case of bare feet as Foot Focus and that is what we are talking about wen we talk about the misuse we are looking for, right?
I'll be checking the wicks for both pages. If I haven't stated that, I am now.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I just take issue with how much you're focusing on "misuse" when there isn't that much or haven't found it yet. You want to make a supertrope, but there's no point to making a supertrope. You should've checked for misuse before bringing this up in the Repair Shop in the first place. Sometimes trope names are terrible, like The Boo Radley and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Other times, as in this case, the name is perfectly acceptable and there isn't as much of an issue as people seem to make of it, like with Thirty Xanatos Pileup.
I laugh in the face of suffering.1. I haven't checked the wicks yet, so you can't expect me to show the misuse when I explicitly stated I haven't done thing that shows it yet.
2. That was just one suggestion I made, and that was ONLY in the case that the definition was other than what I thought it was, and if you followed the thread, you would know I was convinced otherwise.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.1. I just think that you should've checked them before putting this in the repair shop if it was going to be an argument.
2. I have followed the thread, but I'm sorry I brought up the supertrope; I didn't see where you said you were okay with the trope and didn't want to still make the supertrope. My mistake. I thought you still wanted it.

I laugh in the face of suffering.Well I agree I should have looked up misuse first. I'll check the wicks for both tropes, and if there is either no misuse or misuse is on Foot Focus more, I'll ask for this thread to be locked (and have a rename thread for FF if there is misuse on that). But if there is misuse here, we need to consider the name is a problem.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.^ We'll need to consider that the name might be the problem. Not assume that it is. What the misuse is, if there is much, will be an indication of whether there's confusion between the two or not.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Yeah, that's what I meant.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Well, did you do it? The page still has the banner. I'm guessing you did, the answer was no, and you forgot to come back and say it. But, just in case, I'll let someone else holler at a mod if DQZ doesn't get back to us.
Everyone Has An Important Job To DoSorry, was busy. I'll check this tonight and get back to you.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Okay, checked the G section for both, and as I suspected, Foot Focus had the misuse, not this. I'll make that thread, and then holler for a lock after I post the link to the new thread here.
EDIT: Okay, check it out here.

Okay, didn't know about the first point and I accept the second. But I really don't think a rename is necessary here. Does Not Like Shoes doesn't imply to me that a reason has to be known; it says that a character just doesn't like shoes. They might have a reason, but the audience doesn't need to know it. We could put some bold text on Foot Focus to that effect, right after the other bold text.
