Sorry if this was posted in the wrong location, I'm not quite sure what's wrong. All my efforts to go to www.google.com seem to result in going to what is (allegedly) Twitter with no way to actually use a search engine or reach Gmail. Additionally when I attempt to use TV Tropes search engine I can't get any results, something which may be connected. The problem seems to happen on both Google Chrome and Firefox (no idea about IE), and virus scans suggest it's a problem with Google and not my computer. Is anyone else having this problem?

Nope. Safari works just fine.

Using Chrome on Vista, not having this problem. Just because your virusscan isn't detecting it doesn't necessarily mean it's not there, and it sounds like you may have something.

Yeah, you might want to purge chrome and firefox and try again. What virus scan are you using?

Firefox user, and everything looks fine. Then again I don't have a twitter account either.

Oddly enough I can now reach google just fine. No idea what that was about.

In re. to thatguythere47: Mcafee, Microsoft security essentials and Spybot Search and Destroy. All negative (or in Spybot's case nothing unusual).

Weird as all heck, but if it's over then it's over. Sorry for the trouble.

Odds are, you've enabled a buggy third-party app on your I Google profile. Try to log out from that and see if you can access vanilla Google.

If so, try to restore the default config.

Shinra would you be so kind as to create a separate thread for that? Mostly because I want to discuss it without derailing.

OP: There is chance you may have some form of redirect virus.

So now, I just created another gmail address for myself (abite with and ending that is not "gmail.com"), but just today, it took me to a form, where I can "add a Gmail to my account, and and my Gmail address will become my primary account username." ???? What's MORE puzzling? IT WON'T LET ME CHECK MY MAIL UNLESS I DO THIS!!! >:

I have problems with Google when I use my ancient FF version I have at home. Basically, I can type shit into the search bar, but it won't show me any results. For some reason, when I use the little google search tool bar that is next to the adress bar at the top of the Firefox window, it does work. Just not when I actually open the Google site.
