Who knows, maybe John Oliver's show won't be renewed for a third season and he'll come back. Otherwise, maybe there will be an entirely new cast and everyone will hate it.
HBO's already renewed Last Week Tonight for next year.
I never really expected them to promote internally anyway. I always kind of thought they'd go for somebody completely new.
Ahhh. Alas, I liked Oliver better on TDS :P
But yeah, TDS is lookin' pretty screwed, since there's not really anyone lined up who could take over effectively.
Fingers still crossed for Tiny Fey or Amy Poehler or John Mayer or Aasif Mandvi or Wyatt Cenac.
I entered that contest to get tickets to the last show, but since I only put in enough money to be a supporter and they're doing the thing where the more money you donate the better your chances are I think my chances of winning are really slim.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I guess they'll figure it out. The Daily Show has become an institution after all; Comedy Central will make it work. I imagine even without Jon at the show, he'll likely have some kind of input.
Maybe Seth Rollins will be able to host The Daily Show after all.

I've heard they've found a relatively unknown guy named Craig Kilborn to take over as the host.
Ha ha ha-don't even joke about that >:/
The Selma episode from Monday night was simultaneously heartwarming and disheartening.
Heartwarming because how can you not be overwhelmed by John Lewis' story? It's so inspiring.
Disheartening because CNN chose to cover the Selma anniversary by masturbating on air over their new camera drone; and Fox News got all fired up over President Bush being cropped out of a photo of the marchers.
Miss the message much, folks?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Not at all, they just didn't care about the message and wanted to use the anniversary as an excuse to shove their own message down everyone's throats.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranQuestion: Why did Jon keep mispronouncing Rob Cordry's name? Some kind of in-joke i'm missing?
With Jason Jones and Samantha Bee gone, I think that makes them the last remaining "senior" correspondents.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationAasif is usually given a "senior [x] correspondent" title.
The way he was pronouncing it sounded like how it would be pronounced with a Boston accent, and according to Wikipedia, Rob is from Massachusetts. So yeah, probably a nickname.

Aren't all the correspondents "senior" ones?
Sam and Jason are arguably the last of the classic correspondents to leave, though. They've been on the show for a long, long, long time. Sam joined the show in 2003, Jason in 2005. Aasif actually joined in 2006, so he's not that far behind Jason. So I guess he could still count as a classic correspondent.
Still, the others all joined within the past 4 years. (Al Madrigal in 2011, Jessica Williams in 2012, Jordan Klepper and Hasan Minhaj in 2014.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. The "senior" bit is a gag. Whenever someone is introduced for a segment, they are always the "senior [x] correspondent", where [x] is something ridiculously narrow.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"You forgot John Hodgman.
Hodgman isn't a correspondent, he's just a regular on the show. Same with Lewis Black.
I like all of the correspondents. It's like SNL, with new ones being introduced.
Everyone's jumping ship! The only people who are going to be left for the finale are the awful new meat.
Sam and Aasif better get their own send offs.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Aasif isn't leaving, is he?
I'm sure Sam will get her own send-off. She was on the show even longer than Jason.
And I actually like the current correspondents. I think they're all really good. I'm especially hoping for a lot more from the South African guy, whose name I forget.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Hasan Minhaj's last field piece was actually really impressive. He reminds me of a younger Jason Jones, playing the cocksure idiot.
Going by his Twitter, the reason Trevor Noah isn't on more often is that he still lives in South Africa.
Of the new correspondents, Jessica Williams and Al Madrigal are my favorites. Their field pieces are always amazing and hard hitting.

He could work. A fresh face with late-night and comedy chops. I really liked his material so far on the show.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Knowing he hosted a late-night show in South Africa does catapult him up the list of people to be considered, for sure.
I wonder of Bassem Youssef is being considered at all.
Man, I feel bad for Jessica Williams, because ultimately what's gonna happen is she'll be forced to host just by default.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.
