I liked the movie, but I wonder how you can make an entire series out of the source material.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. They made Shaft into a trilogy. It isn't that hard.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/What's Black Dynamite? I never even heard about the movie.
It's a parody of blaxploitation films with Michael Jai White. The film only had a limited release in the US but has found a following on DVD and airings on Starz.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/YES!!! Blaxplotation LIVES, dammit!!!
I just pray it stays clever and funny and they don't turn it into a clone of every other fucking show on AS. I love the movie so much I'll be heartbroken in the show sucks!
Emperor Wu liked cake, but not exploding cake! It's from the animation studio and the producers of The Boondocks. It should be a cut above most Adult Swim series.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/That's promising. I initially had mixed feelings about Boondocks (huge fan of the comic strip beforehand), but as a series it's grown on me.
Emperor Wu liked cake, but not exploding cake!Pilots out! Can only post the link here, and I don't think countries outside the US can watch it. But fuck it looks awesome, though it looks like it is missing the deliberate badness of the movie.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.JIVE ASS MOTHERFUCKAAAAAAAAGH!
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Huh. While I loved the movie, this is the sort of thing I feel would go from "parody of X" to just being X—particularly since the movie was already right there at the line. The film could at justify its misogyny as a commentary on African-American-focused cinema in the 70's—what's the cartoon's excuse? On the other hand, I hope Salli Richardson reprises her role from the film, as I prefer to see her employed.

Avatar art by Lorna-Ka.I already mentioned it. It's Refuge in Audacity, just like The Boondocks.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Sure—except for the part where being blatantly misogynistic (although they'd probably deny it) doesn't really require much audacity. It's been done, many times before, and can almost always be done with impunity. Now, if the show show that didn't consider men who treat women as disposable penis pockets heroic and/or funny...that would be truly brave. Granted, it probably make it something other than blaxploitation, but nobody told them they had to revive the genre.
Avatar art by Lorna-Ka.Did you even watch the pilot? It's him fighting a gang of puppets.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Nope, I haven't. You're the one who used who brought it up in relation to concerns about misogyny, and now I'm wondering why you did so if it didn't actually address those concerns.
Avatar art by Lorna-Ka.I mentioned the trope in that it uses anything and everything, just for the hell of it.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I think I'd rather see the original movie before I watched this, but I'd rather watch Coffy.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture Rack"I used to be a children."
Re-using lines from the movie. Yay.
I don't like this pilot.
I'd prefer to see the final 7 unproduced Moral Orel episodes.
signature lineYou know that this is the pilot and they need have some connection to the movie, don't you? When they do in several episodes, then we have a problem.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Guess the series was picked up after all. The show's going to need a seperate page.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult."Damnit, I already told the second bitch no!"
Man, the animation looks gorgeous. I wonder what studio they hired to work on it.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Yeah the colors are really pretty. The art is nice at least. I want to see a serious show with that kind of style...
The movie was hilarious BTW, not sure how the series will be. AS sucks now but maybe this will be okay.
Not bad. Started off weak, but picked up towards the end.
It's got potential, I'll stick around.
Adult Swim has picked up an animated spinoff of the film Black Dynamite that will debut next Spring. Michael Jai White is reprising his role from the film.
