Okay. The world that most of the story takes place in contains a lot of monsters and demons so they organise wars to toughen up their citizens and for economic and diplomatic purposes. However, their wars are effectively sporting competitions. Their battles take place on magic fields that mean that anything that would normally result in permanent injury ordeath instead results in you temporarily turning into a fluffball. In the last season, Galette (the cat kingdom) was wiping the floor with Biscotti (the dog kingdom) even though the two nations normally get along very well. So Biscotti summoned a hero. This isn't done often, but is basically summoning a sports champion from another world (in this case, a gymnast from Earth). After the events of the season, S Hinku, the main character decided that he wanted to visit again with his cousin (who is actually better than him) and his best friend. That's a rough guide.

Episode 2 covered about what was to be expected. Though that bit was over-the-top even for this show 0_o (you will know what I'm talking about when it gets there)

Now to see if something similar happened in the first season...

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh that was brilliant! Not what I expected at all but also exactly what I should have! Oh, this season's going to be fantastic.

Well, that was certainly fanservicy for a MAGICAL GIRL TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE.

Still waiting on certain subs to be reencoded but that does look rather fanservicey.

That was a bit over the top, even for a transformation sequence. I was wtfing the whole time.

I thought Callaway was kind of badass honestly. Anyone else think so or am I the lone nut like I've been in a few recent threads?

In addition to the o_O, I think they just blew the a good portion of the entire cg budget with the sequence.

Also, I had vague feeling after ep 1, but does Couvert (Pastillage) remind anyone else of a 5-year old, been-fed-too-much-sugar version of Red Saber?

Actually, given who was credited with the sequence (Kou Yoshinari — look it up under key animators), it's apparently NOT CGI.

For those who don't remember the Nanoha S1, he was the guy who oversaw that very smooth sequence in episode 1 where Nanoha was running.

Well that could be some foreshadowing, I guess. Hopefully there's some point to it besides being weird and kinda creepy.

You are thinking about the transformation sequence, right? Well, it firmly shows that she will have different talents than the other two by engraving the fact that she is a "witch/magical girl" and not a "fighter." On top of that, I'm fairly sure there were clues about what her abilities are going to be hidden somewhere in that sequence.

I also expect that we will not see it in any future episodes.

Well, it does sound like Pastillage does specialize in more tech and airborne battling which would set Rebecca up for that style compared to Galette & Biscotti's more ground based tactics.

I got a lot of Symphogear vibes from that sequence what with the cables and general "technology" theme of it.

Somehow that made it all the more creepy to watch.

Am I the only one who felt a sinister feeling from that transformation?

it's apparently NOT CGI.

I seriously hope dat transformation of all things doesn't fuck up with the budget >_>

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.

Wow, Pastillage is an awesome addition to the war. Their specialization in airborne troops and tech spices up the battles considerably and I'm definitely looking forward to what they have up their sleeves. Can't wait to see what Becky can do!

Speaking of Becky: Awesome. Transformation. Sequence.

Considering a certain other Seven Arcs series that heavily featured a dangerous artifact, these concerns might not be unjustified.

If any artifact is going to turn out to be evil I would assume it to be one of Gallate's cause they have some pretty sinister names.

Though yeah, your concerns aren't unjustified.

So I decided to check this series out, and it's actually a lot more enjoyable than I expected. I just caught up with all of the episodes, and the only gripe I really have with it is all of the fanservice. I can overlook that though since this series is really cute. <3
