Is it just me or is X looking better and better for each subsequent trailer?

I don't really like the idea of a customisable character, especially because it looks like they won't actually talk.

Heroic Mimes can be used correctly in a number of ways. The Legendof Zelda series, Half Life series and any Mario RPG work well with them.

SWTOR also uses customization and voice acted player characters and does it well. Not sure about the Kot OR series.

So I noticed that the party inadvertently split itself into two teams and now I'm torn. On one hand, I really liked Shulk's interactions with Fiora and am curious to see how that plays out in the end. On the other hand, I really liked his setup with Melia as his Second Love and I think they could make a really cute couple. I also felt really bad for her after the reveal.

I have absolutely no idea which team to support. ;-;

Hmm... Now that I think about it, when Chugga did that one quest solving a love triangle for some NPC, my first suggestion was "Why not choose both?" That same solution could be used here as well.

Maybe. Maybe.

Oh, that quest. I wish there was an option to throw that damn Tephra Drop off the edge of the Bionis.

Actually, that's not the one I was thinking of. I was thinking of the one in Alcamoth. But yes, that would have been a nice choice for that one.

Having gotten completely caught up with Chugga's LP, I have to say that I'm now leaning more towards Melia as well. Seven just acts way too much like a cliched Damsel in Distress for me at this point. Seriously, when Egil took her away, I was like "You've got to be fucking kidding me. I expected better of you, Xenoblade." Here's to hoping that part gets better in the near future.

Wait, where is Chugga? Because I'm not sure I recall which part that was. Was that the scene in Valak Mountain?

Yep. He's right at the end of Valek Mountain.

Also, every time he says it, I can't help but hearing Phallic Mountain.

Well, do keep in mind Seven's mental state at the moment. Things improve further on.

Yeah, it's that hope that things will get better that's stopped me from fully shipping Shulk/Melia. Still, she didn't even do anything. She just showed up, said a few words, then instantly got knocked out and captured. I'm not going to complain too much, though, since I've pretty much loved everything else (including everything else about that scene like Melia using a surprise Mind Blast on Metal Face and then the entire Dunban versus Metal Face scene).

Looks like we're getting a Shulk amiibo in February, but here in the US it's going to be a Gamestop exclusive.

I wonder if that's an intentional reference to the original game's release.

Hey guys! I just picked up this game up - you guys mind if I give my impressions of the game and theories as I'm playing through? Currently at Tephra Ruins. Taking a guess that I'm going to grab the fuel (maybe a miniboss is hanging out there?) and then the Mechon attack, killing either Dickson or Fiora in the process. Leaning towards Fiora since killing the love interest is pretty standard.

Don't mind at all, its always fun to see somebody's first run!

A word of caution though: Stay the hell away from any and all pages about the game on this wiki. Every single one of them is littered with major, unmarked spoilers from every point in the game. On that note, be extremely cautious about using the Xenoblade wiki; even simply trying to find drop rates for loot or collectibles can and ''will' spoil major endgame events.

Seriously, just stay away from them. We'll be happy to help.

Also, everytime you enter this thread, go and turn on the blank out spoilers thing. Because [up] warning, applies to here also.

Holy SHIT. The Mechon do not fuck about when they assault something, do they? I'm surprised the colony is still standing. And the scene where Fiora got whacked... that was really well done. I'm surprised the devs went to the trouble to create a unique weapon type (for now at least) and skills for her if they were going to kill her off that early. Though that scene raised a LOT of questions - first and foremost is how the hell did the Homs win in the first war? What IS Metal Face? And what relationship does it have to Mumkhar? Because I refuse to believe that two characters using the exact same uncommon weapon type aren't related in some way. Especially since we never saw Mumkhar's body.

[up]They won the first war because they had the Xenoblade, and a bunch of anti-Mechon weapons. Those things do exist, but they can't be bought until some time around level 50.

By, "Raises a lot of questions", you don't actually want anyone to answer them, right? Because I'm pretty sure most of them would be spoilers of some kind.

[down]Fair enough. I made that same connection on Mumkhar and Metal Face on my second playthrough. I restarted on my first playthrough at about level 25 because I decided I wanted to play with Fiora more, and didn't trigger the Mechon attack until about level 17.

[down][down]... Right. That. Why did I remember it wrong? Monado was the prototype name of the game that first grabbed my attention!

[up][up] You mean the Monado?

Also, they won the last war before Dunban is five hundred different kinds of badass.
