I deal with that by copying two apostrophes from a different window and then pasting.
You can fix it if you're on an apple device, you just have to go to settings and toggle something I think. Dunno about other types of devices though.

I usually use TV Tropes on my Phone or iPad, but I signed up on a School Computer (which I am using now). I had on my iPad later that day sue to TV Tropes policy which I didn't know about, but it's all figured out now and my account got verified.
