Let the rumormongering begin.

May be announced at E3 along with a console version of Peace Walker.

Why? Kojima is sick of this series and 4 wrapped pretty much everything up.

I'm certain we get another prequel. I'd kill for the one about how Liquid Snake scuffled around in Afghanistan and the other sandy places he's been to before becoming the fratricidal loon we know and love.

I really, really hope not. I say Kojima should start working on other things, namely... Zone Of The Enders?

And, as Redhead said, he's sick of the series. Although it's mostly the fans who keep making him do more.

A console port of Peace Walker would be VERY much appreciated. Very, very, very, very much appreciated. Hell, just release it as an expensive downloadable so the graphics don't need to be improved much.

I don't think that he is as sick of it as he claims to be. I mean, why does he still make MGS games then? And if he really wants the players to be fed up with the series (as he allegedly planned with MGS 2), why doesn't he just make a totally horrible game?

I think that it's mostly a marketing gag, or something like that.

He made MGS 4. Or MGS: The Movie.

I think that he wanted to kill Metal Gear with MGS 2, and failed

Frank L Baum tried to kill the Oz series, too. He failed.

No author-killing-own-work list is complete without Sherlock Holmes, I suppose?

In other news, I'd subscribe to a Snatcher sequel. I mean, it ended on a Sequel Hook for crying out loud!

Why'd Akira Toriyama keep doing Dragon Ball? Also, now this is just speculation, I obviously don't know Hideo Kojima personally, but:

Actually, it's probably more like:

Homer Simpsons to Bachman-Turner Overdrive: Oh, no. No talking, no new crap. Taking Care of Business - RIGHT NOW. (and then when they submit and play it...) Get to the working overtime part!

Metal Gear Solid 4 did suck. It was also the best game ever.

It all depends on how much cutscene time you can stomach, and whether you were already invested in the characters.

And if you bothered to play the mech fights.

In other news, Damnit Jonah, you're supposed to check to see if this has been done before you make a thread

Plural?

Unless you're referring to the GECKO fights.

This is specifically about Metal Gear Solid 5. Not "what will Kojima announce?" When MGS 5 is officially announced, discussion of the GAME will continue HERE.

Let's see...
MGS 5...
wild mass guesswild mass guessI say it'll be set two-hundred years in the future. Your character will be one of the few human soldiers still left in the service. Your character doesn't avoid conflict out of preference, as it could be in past games, but out of necessity. The reason being cybernetic soldiers that can effectively rip the main character apart without really trying. Stealth is of the upmost importance!wild mass guesswild mass guess

The GEKKOs are a bit small for mechas, so I wasn't sure if you were talking about them. Their fights were pretty fun. Probably the highlight of the game (Along with that other mech battle).

I still think Metal Gear Solid 3 was the best game in the series.

I still like 4 the best. It has some of the strongest moments in any game I've ever seen, and it managed to trick me into thinking it was psychic

^^^ First of all, we already have Metal Gear Solid 5. Its called Peace Walker. Second, all they said was he's announcing two games, your lack of journalistic integrity led to you saying this meant it was MGS 5 to drive up views on your site (and you still managed to forget the NGP game. Way to go, top notch there). Third, if its announced at E3, this will be completely redundant, and we would be better served starting a new thread. Fourth, Metal Gear Solid Rising is due out in 2012. Not "a few months".

That's kinda a general rule for the series. REALLY strong moments, but a lot of times the space between them is pretty weak/cutscene. Even 3 had that problem.

and it managed to trick me into thinking it was psychic

That Psycho Mantis scene was hilariously nostalgic.

Actually, that genuinely isn't it at all. My psychic freakout aactually happened throughout the whole game. I kept running into things and saying to myself "How did it know I wanted exactly that right at this very second. Then I got to Shadow Moses. I hadn't played the original MGS, so I thought to myself "I really should play MGS before I continue". Then MGS started, in the middle of Metal Gear Solid 4. I was freaking out.

MGS 5 will finally be the H-Game that the entire series has been creeping towards. Admit it.
