This is going to be its own series. Almost like "Discworld Presents A Police Procedural TV Series". I'm trying to wrap my head around such a thing but it gives me more hope.

That actually sounds like a better idea than direct adaptation. Making new stories of the Watch so we can see more characters from the Watch getting focus.

I agree with that - no worries about missing the intricacies of the plots or the good stuff.

Now they just need to make sure the writing and casting of the characters is good. Anyone know when it is likely to be set (so which characters will be the Watch)?

There was a line in that clip about starting from the end. I think that was referring to starting at the end of the Watch series so we're talking about a well set up and established watch. It would have been fun to see the Watch grow in stature but the former approach means you don't have to worry about the seasons corresponding to particular times in the book or you don't have the most defining moments for the characters happening off screen in between seasons.
