Yeah, it does bother me. I hate it when people completely disregard the minority because they're statistically irrelevant.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianWhy yes, Drunk G, I have lived on my own. I am living on my own. And yes, I've been discriminated because of my gender and race. Surprise surprise, I'm not a white male. I'm not Christian. I'm currently working through college with a part time job, so don't give me that crap about "You don't understand me", I'm here and I'm doing just fine because I decided to work my ass off several times instead of talk about how the government is oppressing me.
The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.I've been discriminated against and made fun of based on sexual orientation, gender, and religion at certain points in my life. I have been threatened with being disowned based on sexual orientation. It has never been very bad though admittedly. I've had just as much support if not more and have gained the side of those who were against me in some issue or another.
I don't really vote or anything. I just sort of live. I do need to work harder though.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahDrunk G: That's Democracy.
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?
Wow. That was rude. Thumped.
Yeah it's really not. Once more, I'm sorry the Drunks' Evangelical hellhole is an Evangelical hellhole, but it's not exactly indicative of the nation as a whole.
Hell, the reason you keep getting stupid shit like this is because just proposing it gets them free votes from said hellholes whether or not it actually goes through.

Upon the rise of atheism in the United States, you could make a claim that this declaration is now offensive, except that it still applies for the majority of people if you decide to take it literally (irreligious percentage of people in the US is still only 15%), and is ultimately a symbol, just like the flag that you're pledging allegiance to, otherwise we'd be putting the flag on a throne. Since everyone is human, they're less than God and therefore, we are all people under God. It's probably the single most uniting thing you can possibly say without being awkward or needing revision every couple of years.
Haha no.
Reasons why that is wrong:
- When the pledge says "God", it almost certainly means specifically the Christian God. So that's only 3 out of all US religions at max, and probably only one considering the great differences in personality between God in the three Abrahamics.
- Even between Christian branches there are vastly different interpretations of God. Catholics might claim their God is the same God that Protestants worship (and vice versa), but then God is apparently confused over some pretty major theological points.
- And even past that, believers of the same branch of Christianity believe vastly different things about God as well. There are Catholics who believe virtually everything the Church says, and Catholics who believe virtually none of what the Church says, and every point in between.
We don't even really believe in the same entity; our Lincolns just coincidentally happen to share names, and as long as we can't agree about details they remain different Lincolns no matter how much we want to insist they're the same guy.
Not to mention beyond that that having "under God" is politically divisive between people who believe it should be kept in there and people who believe it should be taken out. After all, we're arguing about this, but we're not arguing about "pledging allegiance to the flag" or "one nation" or "for liberty and justice for all". Logically "under God" must be the most divisive part of the pledge if it's the only part anyone argues about.
