Y'know, in retrospect, it's probably a good thing Josh Keaton isn't in this show.
Sure, he's the definitive cartoon Spider-Man, but would having Josh really change much?
He'll probably still speak like Drake Bell!Spidey and the plotlines and dialogue will still be as mediocre as they are now, wouldn't they?
Yeah, I doubt he would have changed much.
True. I hope he can show up in whatever adaptations come next. I heard there's supposed to be an animated movie in the pipeline.
MJ's becoming a Spider-Hero in a lot of platforms, she's Iron Spider in the Marvel Academy game, and she'll have powers in the new Renew Your Vows title (as well as her daughter)
As for pay-off to MJ's powers in the cartoon, This comes after the Spider-Verse storyline, where she and Peter apparently start getting serious with each other, and she helps him fight off an army of Spider-Slayers infused with Peter's DNA. Doc Ock is also finally given a new more youthful body. At the end of the story, MJ's eyes turn devilishly red

How can you get more serious than "happily married and raising a child"?
I was talking about developments in the cartoon, I've edited the post to make that more clear.

So they really are making a romance between Peter and MJ after all? Despite their previous statement they wouldn't? I guess there HAS been a change in the team.
I wouldnt be surprised if Spidey/MJ is going the bit where the main line of comics doesn't want to use it any more, but it's so ingrained in the public consciousness, by people who are now Running the Asylum, that they can't stop it from showing up in adaptations.
Like how adaptations keep using the Legion of Doom or their aesthetic , or how rare it is for the "Superman identifies more strongly as Clark/a human than as Kal-El / a Kryptonian" to get into movies.
See also the craze people got into over the (almost certainly fake) rumor that MJ was going to be in Homecoming.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I however find it weird that they decided to do the whole Peter/MJ Romance even though the show itself phased out a lot of important supporting characters to Spider-Man. I'm honestly surprised they are going with a subplot from a contemporary Spider-Man; especially how this Spider-Man:
- Doesn't struggle between his personal life and super-hero career
- Work at the Daily Bugle, a news company that mud sling's his alter ego, to help make ends meat; while interacting with all the characters in that company
- Face moments in his career where he will just give up his identity (the closest was that Christmas episode, but lets face it he dealt with numerous moments than just the one).
Him having a romance with MJ actually allow me to take off the whole "Doesn't get romantically involved with supporting character" to how different he is from a lot of other Spider-Men.
Well that was a waste of an episode.
What happened this time?
Nothing much. They managed to retrieve two pieces, but the trips to both universes felt padded out. Which more or less gets me worried all of this is little more than filler.
Yeah, I'm kinda afraid they won't actually ever reference the actual comic Spider-Verse when Spider-Gwen finally shows up.
Signatures are for lamers.Peter and Miles first travel to a cartoony pirate dimension where said shard is in a treasure chest of a paranoid pirate Spider-Man whose crew mutiny due to his paranoid behavior. Said crew comprise of Howard the Duck, Rocket and Cosmo, whose ship is literally Groot. It ends with all characters fighting the Kraken. Positive I give for this segment is the fact it involved pirates, Howard making an appearance and Rocket has a cannon that fires out swords. Negative I give will be that shoehorned moral about listening and understanding each other.
The next universe they visit is a cowboy universe where a western version of Doctor Octopus is sheriff, and the Spider-Man there is a Cowardly Lion. Positives would be the use of obscure Marvel character the Phantom Rider who is overall a badass in that segment and the reveal of Uncle Ben being the Rider thus providing a nice moment for main universe Peter to see his uncle alive again near the end. Negative would be the segment felt a bit too long and boring in comparison to the last one.
So that is what happened in today's episode.
Adding to those negatives: Peter had the opportunity to get the shard, but didn't for some reason. Phantom Rider being able to manhandle both Peter and Miles until he wasn't able to.

... Well, I will give them a point for creativity.

I'll forgive anything bad this show has ever done if Pirate Spider-Man meets and fights Ninja Spider-Man from the Mangaverse.
The...fuck? This show can get really lolrandomhumour sometimes. There's some neat ideas in there, out of context, but yeah.
Inb 4 Gwen only appears for five minutes. :V
Mileena MadnessCALLED IT!
Apparently Spidey's VA Drake Bell is in prison again for a couple of days and has four years probation. Parker Luck has hit him hard.
Drake Bell, Hero or Menace?
Again...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
So she still has the symbiote?
