Reunions-Dark Summer-The steampunk RP

"You always were so defensive. I was simply asking how you were in a fist fight, I never said I would assault you little brother. When have I ever hurt you? That being said I'm sad you itch for blood so quickly." Tashi says as he gos back down to reading his book.

"Well, I'm sorry to have offended you, but I'm a prosecutor, and you have no idea how many people you think you know turn on you after they realize that... It gets rather depressing, actually." he said, his voice still that neutral tone of disinterest.

"So, metal bending, huh?" Alexia said to no one in particular, keeping her eyes at her book. She was trying to break up the tension. She popped another piece of hard candy, a blue piece, into her mouth, "Sounds useful," she rolled the hard candy around her mouth, tasting strawberry goodness.

She was not surprised at this revolation. Her parents and her sister all have seemily strange powers too. Christina used her power to an advantage to join the circus, while herself used her power to hide her secret...in a way.

"When should I demostrate my ability?" she wondered.

Ray looks to Alexia in disbelief, "What did you just say?"

"Please, don't let your role in the society, define who you are as an individual, Miles. You may be a genius but you have a lot to learn still." Tashi says.

"Oh, yes, it's a very neat trick, miss." Daniel said to Alexia, casting a quick look at the young woman, there was something familiar about her, but he wasn't quite sure if he had seen her before. "Very useful if you have the mind to use it for anything else than idle amusement. In that regard I guess it's a little wasted on me... oh well." He puffed on his pipe, clearly not to bothered with this apparent wasted opportunity of a talent.

"Now isn't the time for lectures, Tachi. We should be savoring this reunion. Miles, this train car may not be the right place for fencing or legal discussions, but I'm sure we could all benefit from a song or two. If you would..." Ray says motioning with his right hand.

"My, my," Alexia said, putting her book in her backpack, "Do you always agrue like this? My mother wouldn't tolerate this quarraling," she crinkled one of the hard candy wrappers between her thumb and her pointer finger, "How about we calm down and talk about something... more civilized."

OOC: Did that seem Out of Character for her?

"Hmph. Most often, I'd tell you to sod off... but I'm in a good mood today."

He yawns, then looks at an imaginary watch.

"...9:20...9:20!? Man, I thought I only hit snooze once! I'm coming, Chief!"

Forty minutes 'til the trial starts And I'm half an hour away. I've got the shakes, my body aches, and my hair's in disarray... But I stayed up all night reading files, So I know what I'm gonna say! I'm secure and I'm sure I'll endure on this August Day!

Today's the day! I'll need to prove I'm the best, And the world is watching my inaugural test... But am I truly prepared? If pressed, I'd confess I'm a bit stressed and scared.

Can I bring justice to light? Can I fight? I'll try and if I don't cry, then I'll do alright! I can hope and dream and pray That I'll win on this August Day!

Fifteen minutes left to go, I'm runnin' short on time. My head is spinnin', intent on winnin', I'm sweatin' like a swine. I have to help the people here I know where I belong! The unity of the community will stay strong!

Stand tall and face all your fears, One by one. Don't get too rattled, Your battle has just begun. All my knowledge up on display, I'll fight on this bright August Day.

So will this Dragon take flight...? ...off the ground? I'll soar with glory, My story will be renowned!

"Much better, you have improved greatly since we last met." Tashi says putting his book down for a quite but sincere clap.

"That's an unsual song," Alexia said, "But it's good. Can you sing it again?"

Miles was a very polarizing man in her mind. She couldn't make up her mind...

"I'm not that bad of a singer," Alexia said, unwrapping a piece of taffy this time, "It's not amazing, but I took vocal lessions awhile ago."

"I never could get into song." Daniel observed, still partially distracted by his pipe. "It's a bit like bicycling. A lot of fun when you can get it right, but the process of getting there? Not so much."

"Like prosecution, in other words." Miles said, giving an almost vampiric smile.

"Oh, I forgot," Alexia palmed her wrapper, "I forgot to introduce myself because of your quarreling earlier. My name's Alexia," she did something resembling a cursty,

She laid back slightly, "So, I know you run a steel mill and you are a prosecutor...Tell more about yourselves."

"Why tell you a long, boring story when I can sum up my career in one song?"

"Oh, right." Alexia found Miles to be a very unusual person, seeming bored when first sitting down, and then bursting out of song.

She gestered at the young man around his age, the one wearing the baggy clothes and fingerless gloves, "How about you? What do you do for a living again?"

"A song you refuse to sing twice." Tashi says without looking away from his book.

"As for me, I work docks."

"I'd be my pleasure, Miss Alexia." Daniel said. "My name is Daniel Landerson, I'm the older brother of these two." He pointed at Tashi and Miles. "and I'm currently en route to untold adventures, or a lazy vacation, whatever it turns out to be, as we've all been invited to visit by our great grandfather. Not all that much to say about me, I might be the most relaxed man in the Landerson family, but that's about it." He took another puff of the pipe, blowing out a smoke ring.

"No, no. Have I not already said that lawyer is a second rate romanticist? I am a first rate prosecuting attorney, thank you. It's is a very different song."

Katie inspected her reflection in the mirror. She'd almost missed the train and in her rush, ruined her hair. So thankful that the two in the first car had been asleep, she'd left her luggage and headed for the bathroom. Though that would be a very generous description of the cramped, shaking cupboard she was in. There. That would have to do, sometimes she felt that appearances just weren't worth it. But, today, seeing family for the first time since heading for university three years ago (and longer for most of her cousins), she couldn't get away with anything less than perfection. Which was difficult to achieve with only the comb and mirror she had in her pocket.

Nothing for it, she'd make a worse impression if she hid in the bathroom for the whole train ride. Straightening her blouse and jacket, she swished her way back into the first carriage proper.

Katie gave a well practised smile to greet the man who'd woken up since she'd passed through before. It looked like her aunt Clare was still asleep. Katie decided against waking her, she made her feel naughty somehow with her silent looks.

"Hello, Catherine Landerson," Katie introduced herself, curtseying before she sat opposite, "I don't think we've met."
