Think I'll stick with sixteen as the minimum age. It makes sense since whatever did this would want the babies bought to term, and sixteen is probably the earliest time somone can healthily carry a baby.

Ohoho. Power Incontinence, ahoy. For starters, let's take the kid with super strength and watch him try and pick up a glass of water before he knows how to control his strength.

Or did you mean when the powers themselves are developing?

The Super Strength thing could probably still happen. Or they might have muscle pain.

Maybe if you have someone who can manipulate fire or ice or something else temperature-related, it could mess with their body temperature/perception of temperature, assuming that they have the Required Secondary Powers until they powers stabilize. Like the fire-user could feel like they're at Antarctica all the time no matter how many layers they put on.

How might manifestation be unpleasant forthe kid with water manipulation? And what controversies could the kids cause?

Any ways various groups could try to be politically correct about the children?

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, Zolnier, but do you really need to ask all these questions? I mean I'm all for getting criticism and thoughts when it comes to writing, but you've filled this thread to this point where I have to wonder whether any story that comes out of this could really be called yours.

Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk here. Just offering some advice. Don't write what other people want, write what you want to write.

Hell, a bunch of these girls could ban together at some point, realize they have something in common, and raise their kids communally. Which might help them realize sooner there's something else strange about them.
That's pretty brilliant, actually.

[up][up] Not a bad point. I believe he's just very curious, but it appears like he lets it hinder himself sometimes.

Hmm, I could imagine some sort of P.O.B.B association could have influence. It could have up to thousands of members. And is Mary as a slang term for teenage mother of wonder child silly?

Silly, but what in modern culture isn't?

You could call the kids "Generation PSI".

"Any ways various groups could try to be politically correct about the children?"

"So what nicknames could the kid's as a group have?"

Well, in my experience with real minorities, generally there are three categories of terms. Within each category, there's typically at least two terms, if not more.

Insults relating to that group - with these kids, you might use things like 'mutant', 'freak', 'devil child' (if there's sizeable religious prejudice against them), 'walking nuke'

Politically correct terms - 'people with special powers', 'children born from the coma epidemic', etc.

Terms the people themselves use - typically, the politically correct types see no difference between these and the offensive terms, and occasionally the same word is in either category depending on who's using it and how (a real life example would be the word 'gay'). These kids might use 'blackout babies', 'supes', 'psychics', 'generation psi', etc.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Zolnier, if they're in Australia it doesn't really fucking matter. Just go write the damn story already.

So ways the town's environment might change before and after the blackout? For some reason I think farm land around the town isn't to good any more.
