The redirect is Road Cone, that's for sure. It has enough wikilinks to imply it was renamed (7 inbounds support the claim), however I do not see an entry under the list of Renamed Tropes.... Archived Discussion page has one entry by Softspoken indicating it was, in fact, renamed a long time ago.

Interestingly, the Internet Archive has a big gap in Road Cone's archives from April 2009 to September 2010.

Well that at least helps put a date on the article pre-rename. And "The Pikachu Effect"? Wow, what was the wiki thinking....

There is now the line "In short, Cutting Off the Branches is when one of the multiple possible endings in a game is considered the Canon one in a future adaption" after the first two paragraphs in the trope's description.

I am not sure if that is sufficient to clarify Cutting Off the Branches' meaning, so if anyone has any comments on what to do next, I would be glad to hear them.
